Apparently NexusMods has a Linux app now. Not sure how it interacts with windows only games (like fallout new vegas, one game I wanna play) that run through proton, but I am willing to try it

I went to Michael Wilson’s table to chat with him while someone argued with him about pkwy closures. She was saying “I work in carver county, this hurts me, buses are empty, etc.” I pushed back on what she said, but it was only after she left did I realize that was Carol Becker. I do not recommend

There’s also a requirement in the bill to require the Met Council (unfunded!) to study making the Blue Line Ext a bus instead of a train. Just a shameful delay tactic for an already delayed project that’s pretty far in the planning stage. Hope it gets removed in conference committee but I’m worried

It’s been a long time. Construction on those trails, however (Cedar Lake Trail, Kenilworth Trail, along with connection to Midtown Greenway) are supposed to be done by the end of the construction season.

It is anticipated to reopen in mid-summer. Trail closure starts mid-April. The closure announcement did not specify exact dates.

For me, busy streets/areas feel more secure than isolated ones. I consider myself lucky because my bicycle isn’t very expensive, so a regular U Lock over my frame and front wheel has been enough (my rear wheel is also bolted on).

That’s fair, I completely missed that. Some of those intersections are more busy than others (like 8th, 7th, and 5th), but you are right it is considerably more complex than I initially framed in my post.

I wrote in the survey that this is a very foolhardy attempt to “revitalize” downtown, but that is a much longer process that involves densifying parts of downtown way more.

The streets they chose are not pleasant, totally agree. What confuses me is, if speed is such a priority for them moving buses off Nicollet, why not just give signal priority to buses??? (Because it would inconvenience oh so important drivers for 30 seconds, probably) That would help immensely.

It is frustrating. Currently, MTPD does not have the staff to have people on all the time. The people who walk around checking fares are an ok “presence,” but they come and go as well. What I’ve been told is to text the “text for safety” number posted in each car and a police officer might show up.

Imo, if there’s no bus coming, it should be fine for cyclists to use the bus lane. I’ve heard stories of bus drivers honking at cyclists in the bus lane-I want to avoid that. Sec 169.122 doesnt mention bus lanes, so I would assume the standard of riding close to the curb (subd. 4) would apply.

That’s understandable. From St Paul, Marshall is your only option. But whenever I’m south of Lake, I find it a lot lower stress to ride on a parallel side street. I think it’s a design problem - if there’s a bus in the bus lane and a bike, it’s a bad situation for both.

Personally, I always just ride on the greenway to avoid Lake St. While there isn’t an exit at every cross street, it’s only 2-3 blocks off Lake St (depending on the location). I think trying to put buses and bikes in the same lane could be a safety hazard.

I spent wayyyyy too long to get the hub adjusted properly. Despite my best efforts, the axle would always turn when it tightening the lock nut 🫠

I’m still riding my Peugeot every day! The handlebars, derailleurs, pedals, rims, headset (this was the worst item), and seat have all been replaced over the years.

I'm curious - did you measure the railing only or the railing and the parapet? From what I saw here: edocs-public.dot.state.mn.us/edocs_public... , the total minimum height is 54 inches. (page 13-11). 13-5 to 13-8 list some standards, not sure what was used here. Still agree this is dangerous.
