When life gets too busy to eat all the bananas before they turn dark...

What?! Not me already working on Christmas in February 😂 I pulled my shiny satins & fancy sheer fabric from my stash & sewed them into lined gift bags. This fabric is from my pre-dog mom when I wore pretty dresses. I hate wasting fabric and since I hate wrapping presents-- voilà!

This week's sourdough hot out of the oven!

Enjoying a peaceful morning prepping snacks for the weekend. Guacamole and tabbouleh to munch on as I binge watch old sci-fi TV shows. Just finished Firefly last weekend and I'm in S1 of Andromeda. In the queue is Babylon 5 and Earth: Final Conflict. Any sci-fi recommendations outside of Star Trek?

Woke up at 2 am with tight hamstrings from my run last night with Java. So now, I'm rereading 'Walden' ftom Henry David Thoreau. This is a family favorite and I'm pretty sure this is how I ended up in quasi-rural Alaska with a customized Kubota tractor and moose as vagrants.

I've decided to fire myself from @walmartsupercenter.bsky.social and @loweshomeimrovent.bsky.social self- checkout at and Technically, I'm a DEI hire and should not be working there. Who am I kidding? I rarely shopped at either place in the first place.

We're just a handful in Alaska, but we are doing what we can. Denali FOREVER!! www.vox.com/politics/399...

I'm honored to be featured among many great women in the recent edition of Running Insights. (pg 36): issuu.com/runninginsig... I mainly talk about marketing a run store, but there is a little bit in there about my athletic goals. There are a ton of inspirational stories worth checking out.

My poor pup pup is quarantined with conjunctivitis for the next 5 days. She's bored out of her mind while I've been working from home, even after a 5 mile run. Maybe after my afternoon calls we'll run errands and enjoy the sunshine.

My co-worker stopped in my office & commented on my red lipstick. I was confused because I've worn red lipstick nearly everyday. It just dawned on me that he was asking if I was wearing it as a protest thing. My nickname is 'troublemaker' at work & at home. I don't need lipstick to rebel.

Tried mixing Mexican alcohol with 20th century American literature last night. Ended up with tequila mockingbird

Alaska thanks you!

Deep into Ralph Waldo Emerson's "The American Scholar" a speech given in 1837 at the Phi Beta Kappa Oration at Harvard. And I seriously can't tell if I, as a grown up, find Emerson naive or full of shit. For a learned man he sure bashes learned me with learned words.

After a weeknd reading Poe and other writers of the Romanticism era, I've moved on to the Transcendentalists. I forgot this was the era of Emerson and Thoreau, which means every essay, poem, and journal will be like an evening conversation with my husband.

Guess I'm glad high blood pressure forced me to give up drinking coffee. Guess I'm gonna have to switch my husband to African beans now. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/26/w...

Well, one benefit of being trapped in the house due to poor road conditions is that I got to finish knitting my first pair of socks. They are HUGE! So really they are more like slippers. It was a fun winter project to make the dark days go by faster. Time to decide what to knit next.

Whomever said "The Fall of the House of Usher" was one of Poe's great work likes superfluous words and bad editing. Compared to his other short works, Usher lacks the clarity and rhythm. I've fallen asleep 3 nights in a row trying to read 10 pages. The Wikipedia synopsis is more interesting.
