Yeah, fasting for the sake of just starving yourself makes little sense to me. You gotta want to achieve more spiritually and if you don’t feel like it, that’s ok too.

Well, I don’t have aphantasia but my spatial and visual skills are super rudimentary. Have always been more textual. So was surprised to hallucinate colours.

Yeah when am at my parents I do fast and celebrate Eid. I also do Christmas. Not to mention Lunar New Year and Deepavali. Singapore’s such a melting pot. Makes it accessible to celebrate a bunch of things.

Lol. I was once visiting a friend in Nepal and one evening he gave me stuff to smoke from the Himalayas. I swear, afterwards, the room was basked in technocolour for what seemed to be hours.

I reckon hallucinations are more easier induced through mushrooms, if someone is into that. In my experience religious fasting doesn’t get you anywhere near there. At best you’re hungry and parched and looking forward to dinner.

Me neither lol. But that is really more cultural. Nothing to do with the religon itself. Similar to how they have Carnival before Lent in Germany. In fact the Prophet was known to break his fast only with three dates. But yeah the average person doesn’t have this kind of restraint.

For Muslims, fasting is not really about abstaining from food and drink, though that’s what it’s known for. It’s really more about restraint, delayed gratification and contemplation of the Divine. It can be really meaningful and spiritual and I do appreciate that even though I don’t practise anymore

Must be. My sis is currently considering her first car and she will likely get a hybrid and they do seem cheaper than conventional cars. But she also lives in Japan which probably helps.

A very capable person too - effectively single mom of two very smart excellent kids, working GP/surgeon, no outside help, lost home in 💩storm, lost country, grave past illness, immigrants. Great attitude throughout. Pretty amazing.
