IMO replicator technology is one of the worst things about Star Trek and a reason why Voyager wasn’t as good as it should have been and RDM had to make BSG so he could do it right

I mean there is more than one thing obviously but this is one that I see people talk about less often than some of the others

I like Callie and Jenna’s friendship but initially they were teased as rivals. Obviously the writers decided to retool that dynamic but I like the idea that something happened off-screen to make them bond

(It’s presented as Blake catching Avon up on what he missed—another interesting thing is that at this point Avon seems to have definitively stepped into the lieutenant role previously occupied by Jenna)

Yeah so true! I hadn’t really picked up on that pattern, I think largely because the Chrestomanci book I’m most familiar with is Witch Week which is very peripheral to the series. Fire & Hemlock definitely got my hackles up though. A while since I read Howl and hard for me to separate from the film

I didn’t know that! Oh man I don’t think it was an open secret or anything, I feel like he cultivated such a spotless reputation among the literati? Though there’s definitely some weird stuff in Fire & Hemlock so who’s to say what goes on

Disheartening that even among the many people who disagree with this idea it's largely not because disenfranchisement is bad ipso facto or because they know anything about the history of this kind of thing, it's because "Scotland don't have GCSEs" or "I have O levels"

I think it’s notable that Remmick and co sing a sanitised version, removing the racial language. According to the below, Dave Ray did something similar www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/folk-song-ly...

enabling and isolating her. She eventually got out of it, got a PhD in a STEM field, now she tries to educate people with the beliefs she used to hold. I don’t think cutting off my vulnerable friend and driving her further into his arms would have been the best choice in this situation.

This is my experience. A friend of mine was groomed by a much older man and was in an abusive relationship with him for years. She adopted some of his conspiratorial beliefs—didn’t even vaccinate her own daughter at first. I was young too; I did my best to walk the tightrope btw

DGMW Moana is BETTER. For one thing nobody says “bodacious” in it. But still
