on a related note, i did my interview to get into the composition program at my college while in new york and i remember crying because i thought it went bad (i did good) and then i ate spicy ramen that hurt my tummy, and then i had to hold myself together at the theater for west side story :’)

context for context: there is a large pop up market called Goblin Market with local art, food, and music that is goblin themed and focuses on discounted good (b-stock, out of season items, etc.), trading trinkets, and all around Goblin shenanigans and it’s cool and gay and fun

also i really love this string quintet version from one of the last cutscenes. the super sparse intro with just long cello notes and violin solo moving into these huge chords! wow! the chords at 0:48 fading away to the solo violin? heartbreaking! make a me cry! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqav...

also when i was younger, i wondered how someone could write all these complex interweaving parts; each part feels so intricate yet feels super natural but now i know the power of session musicians and letting musicians improvise and interpret the music!

i will not break down the whole thing, but some highlights for me: - the pedal after the inst. break at 2:40 - the chromatic passing chords at 3:38 - 5:15 onward - nasty tritones in the bass; the strings arr. is so lovely generally, but the way they hit the ninth at 5:20 gets me every time

the melody is simple and effective, but the way it's harmonized differently and in more complex ways as the song goes on? wowow

also it's actually 418,889 plays/month ([$15,080/yr / 12] / $0.003 per play = 418,889 plays per month) and there was a small typo! so i fixed both in the versions in the google drive

this is something youtube reccomended me! it was made by a small team, and it’s way cooler/innovative than copy-paste ghibli youtu.be/IE0kvIbVmwk are there influences? of course! is it a ripoff? not at all! is it refreshing and new and kinda insane? do people really care about it? heck yeah!

like literally everything generative AI aims to do it make it so you can “do everything yourself” (well the AI is doing it not you) there’s no i in team but there’s one in AI woahhhhh

also wow, Generative AI really seems to be the ultimate Individualism Machine™️

also everything being super 17th-18th century aristocratic-y while using stock disco music is weird lol

was curious if there was a more robust conducting rhythm game and i stumbled on this one it isn’t dynamic like the one in wii music is, but it’s cool that there are more accurate conducting gestures, even if they often have no correlation to the music youtu.be/li0xzG_Nn9Q
comment in response to post
true!!!! but no dynamics and more silly/wonky
comment in response to post

it's so much more comforting to have others there for you AND i feel a greater sense of purpose and love when i can help others

i didn't have a lot of friends, i was scared of encountering people and i was ultra stressed! but fast forward to today, i have so many more friends and people i can ask for help and i feel so much better. i'm still working on reaching out more, but i can achieve much more with the help of others

i was home/online schooled for middle/high school, and that made it especially hard to ask for help; virtual school really hammered in a "move at your own pace, do things yourself" ethos and moving into college with that mindset made my first 2 years really suck!
