I think it should be all states who don't publicly declare their opposition to these actions. We need to see them stand up for our partnership, stand up for democracy and stand against authoritarianism.

What a nightmare.

So the "bad deal" he claims Canada is exploiting is his to own. Trump is a grifter. He's gonna grift. Now he's doing it on the global stage and risking not only economic instability of the Americas, but the world.

Oh, and this agreement that Trump is breaking by arbitrarily applying tariffs to Canadian goods? Yah, he renegotiated this agreement during his first term.

Do the math. Then multiply it by what they import daily from Mexico ($1.2B) @ 25% tariff, and China ($420B) @ 10% tariff. Now you get it?

Tariffs go to the US government. So say you apply a 25% tariff on $1M worth of goods, then the cost to import is now $1.25M and $250k of that goes to the government. Now take that number and know that the US imports approx $3.6B worth of Canadian goods EACH DAY.

Definitely not a problem worth breaking a trade treaty over. No, the tariffs are meant to line the pockets of Trump and his hand-picked appointed goons.

Roughly 1% of all fentanyl and 1% of all illegal immigrants tobthebUS originate from Canada. Not enough to move the needle even if we eliminated this "problem" entirely. We can make changes, but it will never be enough because this is NOT a problem worth solving.

These tariff threats feel like they have been thought out, but not necessarily for the reasons you might think. Trump claims drugs and illegal immigrants are surging into the US from Canada and we need to tighten our border controls to stop it! This is completely false.

On the other hand, "Product of Canada" is a stricter label. To use it, 98% of the product's total cost has to come from Canada. So, if you see "Product of Canada" on a label, it means almost the whole product was made here. Buy *Products of Canada* whenever possible!

Here's a reminder of how to identify products that are truly Canadian. "Made in Canada" means that at least 51% of the product's total cost was made in Canada. That cost can be things like the materials, the labor, or the actual manufacturing.

When politicians claim our great democracies are broken, it's not because they want to fix them, it's because they want a license to demolish."

"...some right wing populists see current anxieties as an opportunity to stroke anger because anger is necessary for their project, after all people don't demolish things when they are positive or optimistic...
