Desert Storm. Afghanistan. Iraq. The War on Terror. Dad saw his students, children he enriched and educated, go fight another endless war. And now Iran today will affect their children.
War doesn't enrich our country it destabilizes our communities.

When he came back from his second tour, he left the Army. He was done. He dedicated his life to speaking out against injustice. He became an educator to lift up his community and on Veteran's Day every year I heard him give a speech. He always ended with "I went to war so my children wouldn't."

When presented factual evidence of a violent hazing that occurred on base; the CO threatened Dad with a Court Martial unless he went back for a second tour to Vietnam. He was on a plane within a week. Dad went back to the forever war because the country he served would not serve him.

While stationed in a military base near Killeen, TX he experienced the same prejudice and hatred he grew up in. He was one of many that would attempt to report what was happening and was met with a contemptuous snide from his Commanding Officer. Then he was given an option.
