Discovered this timid #flowertoday in our garden

Creative organisations are four times more likely to struggle with funding, according to a new Creative UK report. Global majority & female-led organisations face bigger hurdles, despite 10% more need. Read Unleashing Creativity: buff.ly/EhmsW9S #CreativeIndustries

I pride myself on my ability to come up with great acronyms but THIS is epic.

Sells his own property to fund the Homeless World Cup in Cardiff, pumps his own cash into a new theatre company for Wales after NTW shuts down, now sorting out £1mil worth of debt relief for 900 people. He's some boy, you have to say! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Team! We are looking for a new *permanent* medievalist-Latinist to work with us at St Andrews! #medievalsky www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DMD844/a...

this is a PSA to call your mom if you are on speaking terms: her body & life was permanently changed upon your arrival & we’re conditioned to see mothering as “natural” when it absolutely is not. the only award she gets for doing her best to care for you is your continued attention—so make some time

Giving this another signal boost 👇

Well, getting out my old fountain pen to brainstorm some ideas old-style has had predictably inky consequences. I'd forgotten about this being a high-risk activity.

We're hiring a new colleague in Scriptwriting (for screen(s), stage or other script formats)! It's that rare thing: full- or part-time permanent Education and Research, in a fantastic department to join a growing Creative Writing team in the glorious South-West. jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webrecr...

Please lecture us more about free speech in Europe.

The inside of my head as I'm trying to make classical rhetoric, disability studies, and affect theory frame a performance workshop, concisely and clearly. Aaaargh!

Genuine question: how do we break through this? Some journalists are waking up but seeming can’t reach these parents (you’d think they’d be our most interested audience…) Is it really all trying to get @therestpolitics.bsky.social to cover the structural issues with #UKHE? #SaveHE

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell. This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

Good for the soul.

Led By Donkeys Tesla film questionnaire We’re urgently seeking a current Tesla owner (or lease holder) in UK who has made the decision to sell or terminate their lease because of Elon Musk’s increasingly vocal support for the far-right, and who might be interested in taking part in a new LBD film

If you can give, here's the aggregate and guaranteed legit portal to suit everyone who wants to help Ukraine. If you're uneasy with donating for combat, you can support de-mining, paramedics, emergency responders, hospital reconstruction, etc. war.ukraine.ua/donate/

Okay. Not sure this is *the* thing to do, but it's *a* meaningful thing to do. Aid spending is being cut by governments concentrating on defence. So financial support for organisations like the Red Cross that are doing vital work in war and famine zones is small but can make a difference.

It's all so depressing. So, back to basics. What can l do about the things I control that will help? And what is within my ability to influence that will help? #SpheresOfInfluence. Scratching my head, not sure what it is, but there's something meaningful out there. Meanwhile, the sun is out.

Our lodger is moving in.

What a great initiative!

A moment of ineffable grace today as, packing up after a long day at work I randomly cast my eyes out over the lawn under my office window and saw a doe bouncing across it, its white tail disappearing into a thicket (across from Queens Drive into Reed Hall area, for locals). Deep breaths.

So... I think we undervalue and don't sufficiently support mid-career scholars. There's a lot of solidarity with precarious ECRs (for obvious reasons) but not much for next step, which is also when work responsibilities and caring commitments effect a cruel pincer movement and energy is snapped.

WHERE ARE MY #EARLYMODERN #RENAISSANCE #THEATER #DRAMA #CHRISTOPHERMARLOWE NERDS??? ASSEMBLE QUICKLY!!! @rapscallison.bsky.social

Another near spring day #flowertoday

Final few days to download 'Shakespeare and the Restoration Repertory' for free! Available online until 27 Feb. DOI: doi.org/10.1017/9781... #Shakespeare #Restoration #Repertory

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

First day of something that felt like spring
