I really don’t think we are going to solve any it our problems until we realize the “attention economy” is inherently harmful to society. Beauty influencers, drama channels, TikTok-ers do view negative attention as a positive if it makes them money. 1/2

I just..why does this man not get it! You cannot just “learn” to use AI like you cannot just “learn” to use a gun. You need to be trained! I’m a librarian, we teach kids how to research and most don’t even use Google properly or how the algorithms manipulate their results.

I get the point, but we DO need to embrace resiliency BUT without the toxic “bootstraps” mindset. We should be hopeful skeptics, aware of the challenges but also focused on the agency we do have. Or the defeatism I am already seeing will lead to complacency and acceptance of our situation.
