This sort of comic book corruption is quite literally illegal in every single country in the world that has written laws. I don't even know what else you say about this, it's amazing

Story idea where an author is haunted by the ghosts of idea guys, but it’s just a vague outline of a haunting and they’re not really sure why they’re doing it

The Democratic mayor of New York City is proposing to collaborate with the deportation regime to save his own legal ass. He will sell anyone and anything in this city out if it means saving his own ass. Cut him loose.

I don't know why a spammer would *want* to take over the tag of a programming language designer, but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. You should not trust anything you read on X. Please just leave the site.

People also like to imagine that medicine is fairies. You take the anti-flu pill, and the medicine fairies climb out and clean up all the flu. So it makes sense that any given medicine only helps with one thing, because that’s all the fairies know how to do

Industrial lemon juice often tastes different, but that’s because it goes through extra processing, not because it’s impossible to ship fresh lemon juice.

Yeah, this is a strange story on several levels. If they made a little press for fresh-squeezing lemons in-store, that seems like a handy machine, but I wonder if it’s really cost-effective to do that instead of just distributing fresh lemon juice in their normal store resupply.

Israel’s a bit far south, but the great circle route from New York to Istanbul goes pretty close to Belfast and London, and then you could make a local transfer for the last 1100km. Probably shouldn’t be the first priority, but gotta admire the ambition

Right, his wealth is predominantly unrealized gains in the valuation of his companies, all of which either do a lot of government business or have massive downside risk from regulation. He is directly exposed to all the things he is trying to buy influence over

But s4=2*s2 (because sectors are proportionate to angle), so a=2*s2-t4-s2+t2; and t4=t2 (because of the rotation thing), so a=s2. So the shaded area is the same as three 2-tick sectors, which is half the circle.

Sorry, that was an obnoxious way of saying that! The shaded area in 5 is three areas (a). Each of those areas is a 4-tick sector (s4) minus a 4-tick triangle (t4) and a 2-tick segment (g2), which is itself a two-tick sector (s2) minus a two-tick triangle (t2); so a=s4-t4-(s2-t2)
