It’s weird that KF can do a whole long read on #NHSadmin /NHS communications being insufficiently joined up (true, obv) without mentioning a) much of it has been outsourced (Capita etc) b) much of the rest got dumped on clinical staff to do as admin teams & office space slashed in “lean” reforms?

We love @careopinion.org.uk when services listen to patients and act on their feedback. Although this patient had a great experience of care, they couldn't find where they were supposed to go! The service listened and planned to make a change based on their Experience! www.careopinion.org.uk/1312458

Meanwhile, this side of the Atlantic, it’s not any better. Though the UK isn’t quite suffering the acute turmoil seen in the US, we have sustained inequality and harm. MBRRACE data from 2024 makes for stark reading and tells us that there is much work to be done. www.npeu.ox.ac.uk/mbrrace-uk

Super interesting. Have shared with the young woman and young man in my life. Various things have reminded me recently of how bewildering it was to be a young woman, working class, smart, confident, and yet so much craving for approval from people who didn't have my interest at heart.

Retweeting this because I think it is important: if openness means anything in the NHS, it must include making problems more visible. Increasingly, critical reports (of which these are just an example) are not coming to pubic boards for discussopn.

As of April 2024 over a million people were on waiting lists for mental health services, with 345,000 waiting over a year. That's why @commonshealth.bsky.social launched an inquiry into community mental health services. Today is the last day to submit evidence 👉 buff.ly/3VPB7d9

Often when I’m talking ppl through potential research impact, I ask who has power, or what power they themselves have. And almost always ppl want to complain they don’t have any power. But digging usually shows that means they don’t have total authority, and neglect things like influence, legitimacy
