Red sun, or red Kryptonite? (I haven't regularly read Superman in years, maybe decades, but back in the (uh) (checks notes) (can that be right?) 80s, it was red Kryptonite that had unpredictable effects on Supes.)

When I first saw this, I thought, Have they tried doing something *useful*? (And I say this as a Canadian, unaffected yet also directly affected by the shitshow in Washington)

Before I saw who posted this, I thought, Hey, that looks like something out of a @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social book.

The act of writing is the act of thinking. You could, of course, interpose an AI generated thing at any point in the process, but it wouldn’t actually save you time. If you know what needs to be on the page, you will write it better than an AI. If you don’t, the only way to find out is the writing.

Ooh, hadn't thought of Ant-Man. I did watch the first season¹ of The Sticky, based loosely² on the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist. — ¹ And only, since apparently it's now been canceled. ² Very, very loosely.

We had a clawfoot in the house where I grew up. If you wanted to shower, you used the stand-up stall in the basement bathroom.

There's a lot of dreamy images in the story; I think some of the best ideas have come to me when I'm half awake.

If it says "sift", I'll still make it, but nothing's getting sifted.

Oops, I didn't say anything about myself: I write SF/F, and I also like to take photos, often after dark. You can find a bit of both on my site. patrickjohanneson.com

I'm also starting to do searches like "how to write a heist" because I've got a motley crew trying to steal a time machine from Area 53 (like 51 but a prime number), but I've never written a heist before. As for cozy spaces: Libraries make me happy, but really, anywhere I can hide out and read. 2/2

I have a silver¹ one somewhere, but I don't think I've worn it in public since, oh, 2005 or so. — ¹ It could well be mostly black by now.

Right? I spent two days tracking down a bug in my Multisite installation; turned out I was (mis?)using `$query->the_post()` where I shouldn't ought to've.
