The article is part of a special issue on party contestation of foreign policy, edited by @achryssogelos.bsky.social & Toby Greene, which emerged from an #EWIS workshop in Amsterdam in 2023.

This is complemented by what I see as a new form of vertical role contestation - between the regional and federal level, as it happened after the #BSW's electoral successes in regional elections in Brandenburg, Thuringia, and Saxony.
