This suggests that while some clades don't evolve adaptations to certain environmental conditions (e.g. palms 🌴 to frost 🥶) they often do overcome dispersal barriers when given enough time.

Environmental dissimilarity among regions has a consistent effect on turnover also at the level of phylogenetically old lineages while spatial distances that need to be overcome by dispersal only matter for younger more terminal lineages (e.g. species) 🤔
