I’m nervous that the far right will continue rise in the west if center and left political parties don’t shine the spotlight on the class warfare going on. The massive (and growing) wealth inequality is making everyone dissatisfied and wondering who to blame.

El Capitan displays a massive American flag upside down—the traditional signal of distress or extreme emergency.

Jesus, Be with us and bless us with Your love in our rest, relationships, and all we do as we choose Your grace and tenderness. Amen. This is our blessing for our seventh week of Ordinary Time.

The last place most people look is right under their feet, in the everyday activities, accidents, and encounters of their lives. What possible spiritual significance could a trip to the grocery store have? How could something as common as a toothache be a door to greater life? Barbara Taylor Brown

Just a quick video of me saying hi to all you on Bluesky while walking through the neighborhood. It was sunny in the gray of winter so it put me into a good mood. Blessings to you today!

Praying for Pope Francis + the whole of the Roman Catholic Church, as I do every day. His presence and openness are one of the reasons we felt the welcome and confidence to begin Urban Monastics as an ecumenical order. He has softened many hearts. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

This is one of my most favorite chapters from the Urban Monastic Way of Life. It encapsulates the hope of many monastics as we turn from this life into a life more fully like Christ - who was the Fruit of the Spirit incarnate. Let our life of faith be the natural overflow of you & not our own work!

In case you're curious: • Love invites and seeks ways for everyone to have enough. • Hatred draws circles to divide and casts many beyond their sight and care. This matters when we say that God is love. This matters when we follow the way of Jesus. This matters to see who is leading with hatred.

If a political party act like nazis, do the salute, and they are called nazis without denying it... They're nazis. I don't know why this is so hard for some people. It's wild that 'polite' political discourse doesn't allow us to call it what it is. Where are the elected officals blocking their way?

If you're trying to figure out what to do right now, my advice is to just pick a thing that you think might be useful in some way, however small, and do it. Doing a thing leads you to doing another, bigger thing, and prepares you for that next thing.

It is nearly coffee on a terrace weather here in Paris. Well, it already is for those of us raised in the Midwest. It was a balmy mid 40s Fahrenheit.

I was just reminded that we named our first cat Maximus Decimus Meridius Prins. He was the catmander of the legions of the North because Gladiator was one of my favorite films at the time. On the daily we called him Max and he was a buddy.

I just did a bunch of hip mobility stretches and now it feels like my back and insides are reorganizing themselves while I sit here. Ooof. I need to do these more often!

Remembered I found this by #PopeFrancis in a church in Sangatte-once the site of a refugee camp 'Sustain us with the strength of your Spirit, so that we may show your tenderness to every migrant whom you place on our path' Praying for the Pope, and for all tonight seeking refuge and fleeing war

Just wanna hear what the asteroid has to say before I make any judgements

This was a really enjoyable conversation, and a bit of a follow up from the other week when it was just Andrew and myself talking Urban Monastics. Both episodes (149 & 150) are worth your time! Plus you get to hear my voice which seem to have been made for broadcast.

Just ordered a power flosser and I’m amped to power wash my teeth! Any pointers?

It’s so fun watching new registrations come in everyday! Books are now printed and shipped. We have our last planning meeting this Wednesday. Then next Wednesday we fly from Paris to Edinburgh! Looking forward to being with you all on the first!

look, it’s really simple: owns several car dealerships, can’t spell bourgeois: blue collar working class adjunct professor surviving on black coffee and tofu, can spell bourgeois: bourgeois

Wondering aloud. How are we making ways for our neighbors to repent for their support of this authoritarian US government? I understand wanting them to have their FAFO moment. Yet, I believe we’ll need all the people we can in active resistance from the swelling oppression and violence.

This is true! I spent 25 years in web tech as an engineer. I’m clinically depressed. The majority of my peers needed at least one of these types of medications. They are good people who make the magic of tech happen every day. We should be treasuring these folks, not punishing them.
