I've been tackling working on family genealogy again. Man, that's addicting!

๐Ÿ˜ Wow! ๐Ÿ˜‹ This post is making me hungry. Some of those foods look vintage!

Well said! I don't want to send colors at that point (or be too tight). Don't want to lock myself into something before I am ready to commit.

Happy to help! There's no standard way of doing it. It's fundamentally about how YOU communicate clearly your intentions of interpreting the text. You will develop that as you evolve and do more projects. Doing a search of other illustrators' thumbnails, storyboarding, and sketches helps, too ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

I think it's different for everybody, and sometimes for each project. There are times while in sketch phase, I will take characters/pages/spots to something akin to a final, but that's me working out my how-to. I don't send that to the client. For sketches it's just line with wash for value.

Just checked. Made Here IS a Vermont-based PBS series (So stated on the link I posted). Sorry to hear you experience awful car noise. One of the best parts of winter is that my windows are close and I can't hear (as much) all the noises that stresses me. But once spring comes...๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿฅบ

I don't have Passport, but the link I posted isn't a promo; its the whole doc, so viewable (at least for the time-being!) Made Here might be a Vermont PBS small doc series so not sure it was on everywhere. I SO struggle with environmental noise, so this was validating.

Oh! Well I'm glad you did! Thank you! ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธโ€ I'll have to come here more often and get my follows updated! ๐Ÿ˜„

It IS beautiful, Polina! I'm not familiar with the term "camera work" though. What does that mean?โค๏ธโ€
comment in response to post
It's Vermont-made so features specific noise-pollution issues there, but this situation is everywhere. And it goes into how noise has a detrimental affect on our health.

Hey, Johnny! Ha! ๐Ÿ˜„ That's so nice of you to say! I've got you followed now! I'm not here that much, though. Never could get into the Twitter/X format for kidlit. We still need a competitor for IG. ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Heh! Thank you so much for saying that, Tori! I just saw it in print today and was pretty happy how it came out! I'll post in full later. And if you haven't already, you should contact Owl. From what I can tell, they pretty much use mainly Canadian illustrators for their mags, etc.!

Yes! Super cute, Tori! ๐Ÿ˜ I don't know what this particular challenge is about but it seems to be popular! And, yes, I'm trying to push these challenges into more than just an illustration, too! Makes more sense to make book covers, etc. from them! ๐Ÿ‘

Wow. Schwans! I remember them. I think my mom placed some orders with them--many decades ago. I don't remember the food though. Enjoy the goods!
