London is reliant on demand in the rest of the UK economy for a very high proportion of employment; most workers in London aren't serving international markets. Something I remember reading in an IPPR publication on regional policy over 20 years ago. ippr-org.files.svdcdn.com/production/D...

Maybe so, the cold hard fact line serves to close down the argument.
If he’d used the line - I welcome this investment and we need more, so that the great cities of The UK punch their weight - I can probably accept the nuance argument.
