#disabilityjustice isn't just for disabled folks, it's a framework for liberation that benefits EVERYONE. 🗣️ learn the 10 principles of #disability justice (intersectionality, anti-capitalism, sustainability, interdependence, collective liberation & more!) here: wid.org/moving-from-...

so many indigenous people sounded the alarm about harry potter and how it stole from indigenous cultures and yet we were called fanatical and blew off. it took for that woman to be transphobic and racist for y'all to wake up. i'm not buying that, lol.

Patients who wear a mask to access healthcare are NOT anxious. Hospital acquired COVID has a 10% fatality rate. Many of us are already severely chronically ill. There’s a pandemic that is airborne and currently ongoing. Adapting to a threat is not anxiety, it’s a justified, rational response

WHEW! I guess only billionaire geniuses are susceptible to doing that extremely specific move by accident.

It breaks my heart when I see someone who’s high risk wearing a surgical mask in the hospital. They obviously WANT to protect themselves. Public health has so utterly failed that they believe the surgical mask will be enough. When no one else is masking, you need a well fitted respirator.

Stop placing complex chronic illness patients on psych holds. If you don’t know how to treat someone, say so. Don’t tell them it’s all in their head. Placing patients in the psych ward breaks their trust, sets back their baseline and sends a clear message that they’re not safe in your care.

Not assaulting women is not “perfection”. It’s basic friggin decency. It’s the law. It’s not being a predator. If someone thinks assaulting women means they’re “not a perfect person” they have absolutely no business being secretary of anything - let alone defence.

Misogyny, rape culture and patriarchal values are alive and well. Medicine is not - and never has been - immune to these issues. When you combine them with rampant ableism and discrimination - you get a very unsafe situation for disabled people. www.disabledginger.com/p/gisele-pel...

doing the calculus of "is this bad enough to get actually treated or am i just going to waste my time and risk getting sick(er) in the er?" is something you can't explain, it has to be experienced

Could ER staff please stop asking patients “what do you want us to do?” There’s no way for us to answer this question honestly. If a disabled person is in your ER - I promise you they agonized over whether to come get care. They’re afraid you will mistreat them. They want you to do your job

Make no mistake… “personal responsibility” Covid policies helped lead to this. People have been told for years that only the “vulnerable” are at risk. That they’re acceptable losses. That their health is no one else’s responsibility. Staying home to protect others is no longer “cool”.

Answering honestly about needing medication for severe pain can also lead to people just being given Tylenol, especially if they’re Black.

We may not have a cure for HIV, but PrEP came damn close. It virtually eliminates HIV transmission. Pushing to block access to it gives me flashbacks to the AIDS denialism movement. We’re going back to a time when we blamed HIV patients for their illness. They were shunned & left to die.

“The extreme examples of patients being admitted to psych hospitals are the tragic tip of iceberg. Patients who aren’t believed may struggle to get any medical care at all, or get pushed toward therapies that don’t work” Doctors NEED to stop assuming anything they don’t understand is psychological:

When billionaires take control of vital communication platforms, it’s not a win for free speech. It’s a win for oligarchy. And when those billionaires justify their business motives by citing “freedom,” what they actually seek is freedom from accountability. Don't be fooled.

Even in health care settings! We already know we're expendable and best not to be thought about, but damn. It has been a very rude awakening watching you all try to fucking kill us

WTF is it with so many movies and TV shows showing people smoking? They could just *not* do that.

Or worse/additionally: • Won’t help you… but can. • People paid as care abandon & abuse like friends & family already did - but are more likely to get away with it. • The ruthless cruelty of being punished (while & after being gaslit) for not positively responding to their “help,” (referrals).

An eye for an eye, and we all go blind.

Violence against poor Black people is accepted but violence against White wealthy people is not. That is America

Racism is a two sided sword.

The truth is only offensive when you live in denial

I remember when HIV was a death sentence. When the fear and stigma were so severe that many healthcare workers refused to even treat patients with AIDS. Many were cared for by their partners - often sick themselves or worried they might be next. Its incredible to see people cured in our lifetime

I have tent cities all around me … and am painfully aware that if literally anything goes wrong in my life I won’t be able to keep my roof over my head. People don’t understand how quickly you can end up homeless - especially when there’s a serious lack of affordable housing.

The media felt the need to do an entire report on Luigi Mangione’s chronic spinal disorder…Certain people get the benefit of humanization, others don’t…but here’s the silver lining…

Detransition is when you choose it. Forced sex change is when the state does it Bigoted cis people need to stop being given "polite" language for what they want. They need to be forced into saying what they want: forced sex changes as punishment

The best possible quality of life for a disabled person might be something that a non-disabled person couldn't even comprehend having to live with every day. This doesn't mean we can't have good lives, it just means that even the best case is often really just the "least shit".
