I completely disagree with this!

In addition to a pump, a tube, and a multitool, it’s always wise to pack a four-year-old on a tagalong in the event of unexpected mechanicals. 😀

For me, the many kind-hearted folks riveted to Bean’s story defined the very essence of Post. Thanks for sharing his photo.

Powerful song. We saw him perform last night in Indy.

You must listen to this Tim Grimm song: Broken Truth.

Here are two photos where trails cross under bridges. One I took on a recent visit to Libertyville IL (left) and the other in Indianapolis (right). See ALT for more location details. I highly doubt these cost even 5% of $2MM. (3/3)

... I can't let go of the fact that the city did not route the NEW Eagle Creek trail under Crawfordsville Rd. Here is a photo of all the space under that bridge. Gretchen Z from DPW told me, to my face, that it would have cost $2MM to take the trail under the bridge - what a load of crap! (2/3)

I agree with Sam - why not leverage existing infrastructure to make life just a bit safer for cyclists and pedestrians? Which brings up a very sore point with me about bridges and bike trails - ... (1/3)

The Bigfoot have cleverly disguised themselves using bear costumes.

Truly a horrid crossing. I wonder what happens to this crossing when the 16th St bridge is finally closed for repairs (assuming 30th St bridge is ever finished)? I sure hope that safety improvements to this crossing were incorporated into the plans for the bridge repairs!

Thanks for sharing this video. Very informative. That background image (at 17:25) of a tree filled with plastic grocery bags was so disturbing.

I do! In 1970 my school's hallways were overtaken by Clackers and Duncan yoyos. At lunchtime, we played paper football.

Didn’t know Falcon Creek existed. I traced it north from 30th and either it, or a tributary, crosses diagonally under the intersection of 38th and Georgetown. At some point, creeks become ditches.

I’m a bike maintenance novice, which cocktail is most recommended for brake adjustments?

A few more photos from yesterday’s bike ride. It was exciting to see that Phase 2A of the Eagle Creek Trail has now been paved for its full 1.5 mile distance between Country Club Rd and Waterfront Pkwy. The trail is not yet open but very rapid progress. (See ALT for GPS coordinates).

Great idea! I may try this next year after the B&O trail has fully opened. It will be a great route for west-side cyclists to bypass all the Speedway traffic. Then the next year the Eagle Creek Trail will connect to B&O in Speedway.

On the same bike ride yesterday, I cycled with friends along the grandstands of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Probably unrelated, but maybe not. The gravel pull-off you can see in the satellite view (south-side of Cossell) is where birders congregate to photograph Bald Eagles. A nest is nearby.

You are correct about the bird ID, Mike. Thanks for your gentle correction. My wife photographed both a Tennessee Warbler and a Golden-Winged Warbler on her Libertyville bird walk and I, a total bird novice, mistook which photo was which.

The Libertyville forest preserve trail system was wonderful - if you don’t mind packed gravel. 🚴🏻

I was transformed by “James”. It was as if, in my 3 previous readings of Twain’s story, the pages must have been obscured by some sort of gauzy veil that Everett was able to forever strip away.

Yesterday, riding from the Eagle Creek area to Riverside Park, Google Maps recommended biking across the 30th St bridge!
