Fantastic fish n chips at Fisherman's Bay in Whitley Bay today. Best I've had in a long time!

I'm going to miss this! Sitting outside with a cold beer having lunch in the sun 🌞 I hear it's only 3 degrees at home. Brrr, back tomorrow. — at bar taquilla. #sevilla 🇪🇸

Great piece on the benefits immigration has brought to Spain. But two quibbles: www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

El Manijero, a classic Sevilla bar. Good quality ingredients simply prepared, and sensibly priced. One that I will return to, no doubt.

Big hat tip to my new friend in Sevilla @macrambles.bsky.social for pointing me in the direction of @allegrosevilla - a fantastic, eclectic, immersive jam session tonight, unlike anything I've ever heard. And I've been playing in bands for 40 something years!

Just a quick one from lunch today at @lacatasevilla - a lovely prawn and leek ensaladilla, with a really interesting limited edition dry Pedro Ximénez wine. Superb!

A little sample of the Tex/Mex/jazz/whatever (there were influences from all over!) and also lovely to meet @macrambles.bsky.social without whom I'd never have even found the place!

Cracking night of live music and art at Galería Taberna Anima, tucked away in the San Lorenzo barrio of Sevilla. I'll definitely be going back!

Sometimes all you need is good wine, good oil and good bread. Superb. #LaAzotea #sevilla

Today's blue is just a tiny bit hazy, but it's another lovely spring day in Sevilla.

Today on the blog I wrote about how we keep telling the same, boring, wrong history over and over again, instead of doing more complex and interesting work, and why. Like, why are we talking about Magna Carta *ever* let alone in the Temple Church? going-medieval.com/2025/02/12/o...

Some of you insist that you love my food photos, so here's a couple of tapas for you. Carillada Ibérica y Pez Espada a la plancha - or pork cheek stew and grilled swordfish for those who weren't paying attention in Spanish class 😆 (El Cairo, Sevilla)

Today's blue, with added oranges! #Sevilla #bluesky

ONE FINAL REMINDER. We are closed today and tomorrow for maintaining work. We’ll be back open at 4pm on Wednesday in time for Pizza Night!

And here we are, natto plated up with the gyozas you could hear frying in the video. With sesame cucumber and carrots drizzle with fish sauce and shichimi tokarashi. Bloody delicious!

My first attempt at making natto, fermented soya beans. Quite pungent and stringy this morning - I'm calling this a success! www.seriouseats.com/obsessed-ann... #japanese #food

Honestly, there’s so much crap in the news right now - your personal time and your mental health have never been more valuable and important. Keep informed, sure, but also take every opportunity to find and share good stuff too. Even the smallest thing can make a big difference.

I use the sandwich maker so infrequently that I left a note in it of when it was last used, lol. But about once every 6 years I get the craving for those almost burnt crispy sealed edges - and it doesn't disappoint 😋🤤

Starmer’s pathetic low-tax-for-the-rich rightwing “make-Brexit-work” centrism is demonstrably unable to respond to the needs of the UK economy. For someone who was elected on a “competence”, “economic growth”, “adults-in-charge” platform this is truly a deep, deep failure for the Labour right.

www.pelliclemag.com/home/2025/1/... This is a cracking read, @petebrownbeer.bsky.social on top form, and some interesting beery developments in Burton. A place I've never been, but really should.

Judías guisadas con chorizo y morcilla - it's a very Spanish supper tonight! The kitchen smells amazing, and I can't wait to get stuck in 😋

Little moment of joy when I realised a tune that I was idly humming was one of our own, from 25 years ago 😄

This is pretty much how I'm feeling after last night!

The Corporate Con. With corporate greed out of control, it's time for Labour to start governing. youtu.be/qj-gAUaUF-4?...

And so it's Febrero and the @alfredorfz calendar brings us a couple more classic tapas bars from Sevilla. I'll be there in ten days to annoy you all with photos of oranges on trees, deep blue skies, and endless plates of food 😋

Fantastic Pho! A lovely lunch with a friend before she heads off on her travels.
