For a while I had this happen all the time. I had the SSSS on my boarding passes.

🙌 I remember seeing someone refer to them as a manel, and it really stuck.
It’s always case-by-case but you’re right that it’s not hard to tell when someone cares or not.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked, the my confirmed my suspicions.

I once declined to speak at a conference because their lineup from the previous year had one woman out of 30 speakers.
I asked if they had done anything to rectify that. They did not, so I said no thanks.
Selfishly, it’s also not a good look for me. Why would I want to be in a manel.
