I think US generals & intelligence are the best bet for Ukraine. It would be hard for senior staff to tell Trump's people that Russia is not a threat. The ones that haven't been fired yet anyway.

Russia can now expect to be hit anywhere, anytime and in any unknown way, anywhere in the country. If Russia does not change its demands it will increasingly suffer.
Ukraine can hit the Kremlin or Nuclear facilities if it wanted. That is a deterrent.
