As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity. TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

Congrats to @paultremblay.bsky.social for his well-deserved Stoker Award nomination for Superior Achievement in a Novel for his fantastic novel, HORROR MOVIE. HM was my favorite book of 2024 and went immediately onto my list of all-time #horror favorites. Best of luck with the final vote, Paul!

Thank you, HWA and congrats to all the nominees.

House of Bone and Rain is a Bram Stoker Award nominee and I have no words. This is a weird, very personal novel, and seeing it in here with books I loved and authors I admire means a hell of a lot. Congrats to Paul, Stephen, Gwendolyn, and Josh!

SO APPARENTLY!! You get 25% off upcoming books at @waterstones.bsky.social for a couple days with code PREORDER25, including the beautiful red-covered paperback of THE SIEGE OF BURNING GRASS! 😍 www.waterstones.com/book/the-sie...

One thing about PSB is we absolutely adore @paultremblay.bsky.social (especially bookseller Jen and I) My favorite novels of his are A Head Full of Ghosts- exorcist inspired commentary on greed, religion, and family, and The Cabin at the End of the World- NE woodsy queer psychological thriller!

It’s got that new book smell, right out of 1912, with bright red blood staining the page edges. Couldn’t be more proud—couldn’t be any cooler:

Part one of my bit on FIRST WORD ON HORROR dropped. It dropped from quite a distance because I am tall. open.substack.com/pub/etchstud...

@paultremblay.bsky.social ‘s middle grade novel, Another, might just be his scariest book. A masterpiece, truly. #booksky #horror #horrorbooks #middlegrade #middlegradebooks

Had the great opportunity to interview Bram Stoker Award-winning horror author, Paul Tremblay (@paultremblay.bsky.social) about his influences, M. Night Shyamalan's movie adaptation (Knock at the Cabin), and his involvement with First Word on Horror. #horror www.horrorgeeklife.com/2025/02/20/p...

A sneak peek behind the scenes...🎥 @paultremblay.bsky.social recording his chilling words for #FirstWordOnHorror. Prepare yourselves — a new episode drops TOMORROW, and the darkness is closing in.

The first part of me blabbing on @etchfilm.bsky.social ‘s FIRST WORD ON HORROR drops tomorrow/Friday.

I've been working on sewing patches onto my denim jacket in preparation for a horror con next month! The #HüskerDü patch is of course in honor of Art Barbara from my fav memoir (novel) & Trembler, #ThePallbearersClub, thank you @paultremblay.bsky.social for showing us that books are coffins! 🤩🪦📸🧛🏼‍♂️

A win for copyright holders! This ruling found that using materials under copyright to train AI was not fair use.

Awwww yeah!! @paultremblay.bsky.social thanks @netgalley.bsky.social can't wait to get into this later today

Thank you so much to ETCH for sending me this box of goodies! First Word on Horror is a documentary series that profiles contemporary horror writers. The series premiered on February 7, 2025 exclusively on Substack @etchfilm.bsky.social @sgj.bsky.social @paultremblay.bsky.social

Looking for a dystopian novel you haven’t read that fits our current zeitgeist? Look no further than Jack Womack’s 1993 book, Random Acts of Senseless Violence. Especially if you’re a New Yorker. #booksky

If you purchased/paid $$$ for my books, YOU own those books, not the store/corporation you purchased them from. So, I'm okay with you stripping out the DRM so that you can continue to own the book. Solidarity. But please be cool and don't then upload it to a pirate site. My kids gotta eat, too. :)

I have zero respect for the “piracy is good, actually” argument and I’m always sad to see it. I don’t care if you’re an author who doesn’t mind. You don’t speak for me. I do mind.

hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...

@paultremblay.bsky.social and I on the "Science of Fear" panel at Boskone!

Horror Movie by @paultremblay.bsky.social is a five star read and a masterclass in storytelling. Warning: Tremblay’s characters will get inside your head and stay there… but to be fair, you’ll keep on turning the pages, allowing the horror in. This is why I love Tremblay’s work so much.

Missed this earlier: Meta guilty of using pirated books to feed its genAI model. Tip o'the hat to @arstechnica.com arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...

Probably good advice

Last thing I did yesterday before my head hit the pillow was finish @paultremblay.bsky.social's Horror Movie: A Novel. Big mistake! When it's your turn to read the book — which I recommend you do — don't follow in my footsteps. Read only during daylight hours. Or else who knows what dreams may come?
