This count will be on hiatus while I figure out staffing and a growth plan, or some such thing to that extent.
Good day to you all, until we next meet.

Enjoyed your article. Is it fair to say that a good % of FB superiority in those markets was from the software being pre-installed, similar to how internet explorer took hold over netscape back during the dialup era?
Once it has critical mass it's hard to shift w/o the brands/fam also moving.

1. Looks great.
2. Placeholder music goes HARD. Did you make it?

Maybe I could do some sort of water based floor? A swim house?
No. Filtering the water regularly would be too costly. I would always smell like chemicals. Some guests may drown. Not all of my friends can swim. I'm too impatient to teach.
The swimmers muscles aren't worth that.

Virtual Boy 2.0 would be fun.

Would definitely watch a news show comparing how the same story is presented across multiple outlets, as a critique.

The reels on your site are so nice! I think my blood pressure just lowered.

I think they likely don't care (as much) about the cartoon being shared.
I bet it's more about them not wanting people on their staff with dissenting opinions of the higher ups.

Most social media is not a value add, at this point. Meta needs to maintain an edge. The more they can keep users online, the more user data/ad rev they'll receive. Arguments keep people engaged. Even against bots.
Societal benefit is negative. Shareholder benefit is positive.

We had our chance with Google+ (I unironically enjoyed that system).

No one will leave because they think they need it to stay in touch with friends and family.
They don't realize their friends or family leaving because of the nature of the algorithm.
The feed is slop and we'll keep eating it up no matter what platform we're on, most likely.

MTV's Liquid Television really had some bangers way back when. Pretty sure I have that series on VHS.

Fond memories playing Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand on the lawn, charging the solar cartridge to fight vampires on the GBA SP.
Those were the days. Those were the days.

Reminds me of this fun back and forth (since resolved). (No shade cast to anyone involved.)

Update: I've injured something in my shoulder area and will likely not be able to climb for some time, or forever. My hope for the future is like a forgotten dream. I'll never have my monkey bar house.
I must design a new future for myself if I am to have the courage to continue going on.

Is it weird that I'd want them as laptop stickers, or embroidered/framed near my workstation?
These are so cute. Great work!

Fwiw, I've thought you were rad ever since the WannaCry situation. (Sorry you had to go through all that, btw.)
Anyway, every time I fail at something I tell myself "at least I'm trying." I think trying is part of the secret sauce.

More importantly: are they going to end up being a bunch of Microsoft Tays?

It'll be like Facade, only more bots, less graphics, and with addictive mechanics to keep people on platform more.
I'm scared.

Article won't load from a thumbnail click. Removing the /amp/ from the URL made it load up for me, though. Weird, since the thumbnail loaded.

My kids ate so much sugary stuff at my dad's house once that one of them legit puked. I have to enter first from now on and b-line it to the kitchen/throw all the snacks on top of the fridge before they can get their little mitts on it. It's madness.

Unfortunately this may work and form precedent for other networks that want clicks/metrics instead of value add.
As long as it gets average passive users on-platform in higher numbers/instances, it will get traction.

They don't get enough input from their actual users organically, so they're resorting to faking their user base in the hopes that it keeps more humans around.
Kind of like how reddit first got the ball rolling, only updated to be more automated.

Microcenter recently started a laptop recycling program. They have an NYC store that you can give a ring to confirm.
Linking to their BK location in case that saves you a click:

Excellent article.
Infuriating, as someone who went through Title IX training (though I never sat in on a Title IX hearing).
Who blocks additional people from coming forward just because there was a prior case? Repeat offenders are unfortunately common iirc.

The old Aeon Flux cartoons were such a trip. I was hooked (and definitely watched them too young).
Although wasn't Trevor the main antagonist in most of those episodes (if Aeon herself wasn't)?
The "War" episode made me think about life differently, fr.
Can't remember the movie very well.

Anime ok? Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind comes to mind as a classic.
Arguably, humanity is its own antagonist in this one, so I'm not sure if it would 100% fit. Can also see it as humanity vs environment (as in falling out of harmony with it).

The problem with fighting things like AI slop: once they get enough casual followers, it's hard to stop them from maintaining popularity without platform regulation/algo manipulation.
How many gallons of water are consumed to keep the slop factory running?
