He looks quite benevolent.

My card expired and my closest library has bizarre hours because it's in a high school. One of these days I'll make it over there while they're open to renew the card.

Yep. Alpha-gal allergy I think it's called?

It's an Asian tick that spreads the meat allergy. They've been detected in Michigan for the first time, I think.

I will happily submit to the trash panda overlords.

Yes! Playing villagers sounds about right. We have the cutest little downtown too, but unfortunately I couldn't walk around with my bags, greeting the townsfolk, because the ice cream shop was about 5 miles away in another small town.

You might be right! I don't recall if the mixed echinacea seeds I sowed in 2021 were named or not, but I remember it was advertised as having a mix of colors. So funny that this one needed 4 years and a fire in order to germinate.

Oh good! I'm looking forward to it.

Well dammit, I guess I need to start buying cross stitch magazines now too.

What did they do now?

At no point during any of this did I feel particularly well. It's almost like I'm trying to cause a flare. But it felt good to support local small businesses and now husband has a treat to eat for birthday/father's day that I don't have to make.

I'm a 49 year old professional and think calling Bluesky posts skeets is not only hilarious, but extremely clever with several layers of meaning. FFS, man, Shakespeare made fart jokes.

What about myself... *stares at the bag I just brought home from the bookstore*

I may just leave it! It's not like a single coneflower cultivar plant is going to taint the genetics of all the native coneflowers in the meadow. It's not even blooming at the same time as them. The purple coneflowers are barely setting buds yet.

That would be an interesting experiment. I wonder what color I would get.

They've lasted a month! It's been an odd spring, weather-wise though. Some extremely hot days but overall cooler than normal. Not sure if that's helped extend the bloom time.

Check out this little spider lying in wait under a coreopsis petal. There's so much life in the meadow.

The Indian Paintbrush is coming to the end of its bloom time, I think. I love that it's lasted this long. It's such a gorgeous color. And the wild strawberries are still going strong.

Saw a few bumblebees on the coreopsis and several of this cool beetle that I think is a Margined Leatherwing? Apparently they're great "accidental" pollinators and their larvae prey on pest insects.

I got these. Pricey, I know, but I have a hard time finding gloves that fit right and the local greenhouse carried these and they fit really nicely. They will not protect from thorns, thistle, etc. but for skin sensitivity to plant contact, they're working well. womanswork.com/garden-of-pa...

Same! I've had to start gardening with those long gloves that go up to my elbows.

If it's any consolation, we have to spray our foundation in the summer or else we get ants, both the little ones and carpenter ants. And it's had no noticeable affect on the insect life in the garden nor has it harmed the massive ant colonies in our yard. It's more of a barrier than anything.

What a beautiful name. I hope you love your hair!

Oh and the phantosmia I've had the entire day would like a word with me as well.

That's awesome!

If it's the same as the horseweed we have here in Michigan, it's edible and SPICY! And I discovered last year that ladybugs love it.

Fun fact: foxes will sometimes move into groundhog holes! I would love to have foxes.

There's a cross stitch designers feed here! I bet you can find some great designers with a smaller reach who'd love to be featured. The designers I seem to buy the most from are Owl Forest, NeedleLot Designs, and Cottage Garden Samplings.

Same! I'm outside in my yard far more now than when it was all lawn. What's there to do on a lawn? Dogs do not need a half acre of lawn to shit on. Kids do not need a half acre of lawn to run through a sprinkler or play catch.

Me too! Working on quite the headache too.
