I look forward to the day that hammers are taken to it to bring back the green underneath.

Talk openly to your kids about how they feel inside- let them know trans kids deserve respect as much as adults; use what you can at home to help them. Clothing choices, hair cut choices can hopefully make some of the difference. A person's a person, no matter how small.

That upheld ban? My hope is that it leads to folks moving to safer places... But the reality is it's going to lead to dead kids. I hope that haunts those judges who voted to uphold it for the rest of their lives.

10/10 Hate has no place in this country; and the assholes aren't gonna get another inch. It's long past time to stand up. We have to do it now; before it's too late. Stand up. Join a protest. Protect your neighbors. Donate to a cause. Use your privilege. Speak up. Help.

9/10 Instead, its just a bunch of loud assholes who don't think anyone will stand up to them. The fight is here; where will you be when it reaches your door? Will you protect your neighbors? Your friends? Your loved ones? Strangers who belong here too?

8/10 We need to fiercely hold onto hope with both hands. We need to kindle the flame of liberty and carry it forward. Because this perversion of our country? Isn't who we are. (And yes, I know we have a long way to go- but we can all agree the present situation is not the right direction. )

7/10 Inside we are screaming without sound, doing the best we can, scrambling to get any feeling of safety or hope. It's getting harder, day by day. Hope is not a thing with feathers that perches in the soul. Hope is covered in dirt and blood, And has the courage to stand up, and keep going.

6/10 And ultimately? Dissociation- all of us keep going to our jobs because we have to keep living despite the world darkening around us.

5/10 As the great grandkid of immigrants, I recount everything over the last six months, and it is a rollercoaster of emotions. Fear, anger, rage, despair and desperation.

4/10 Brightly as the torch held by Lady Liberty. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." I went to Ellis Island as a kid. I hiked the steps of the pedestal, but didn't have the ability to make it the rest of the way. I wish I had.

3/10 You see, that park is a pauper's field; an unknown amount of dead men from the revolution are buried in that earth. Men who died in darkness so the light of our country could burn brightly.

2/10 One of my favorite spots was Washington Square Park, where a tomb of the unknown revolutionary soldier rests beneath a statue of George Washington. Chiseled into the stone wall behind him, the quote reads: "Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness."

Accurate. Hopefully they can land another joke writing gig soon. That makes 10k joke writers laid off in the first quarter. (This is load-bearing dark humor.)
