Yeah, usually when seeing sprites overlayed it's way sharper. The game does do this at one point. I also assume the PC-FX doesn't have the ability to overlay two videos playing with a transparency or something. So having 5 different FMVs might make sense if there's just a ton of extra disc space

Would love to hear your thoughts if you do! Personally I played through about 3-4 of the endings without a guide, then used a guide to get through the last handful. I think it gives you a nice look at the exploration aspect of the game without committing to searching every corner for endings lol

I mostly just happened to have the game up and running idle for like 20+ minutes and I started noticing all of them lol.

If you want to check it out, it's in English! It's technically a beta release (as most PC-FX translations are lol) but I'd say it's 99.9% complete and playable with some minor issues.

I always loved @rdbaaa.space's magazine cover taht made Nene's face out of a massive number of Love Plus screenshots lol. scroll.vg/issues/05/

Nice! I believe I've seen them mentioned as exclusive merch, however I'm not sure if that means they were given out or were paid items only purchasable through the catalog. I'm sure if we get scans of the volumes at some point, that will answer that question~. Looking forward to the post!

Matt translated the promotional flier for the Anime Fan Club. docs.google.com/document/d/1... However we don't currently have the 14 volumes that were published. pc-fx.moemoe.gr.jp/p05.html If you have scans of the newsletters, we'd love to see them uploaded to archive.org!

Here's the only sketched art version too if you'd prefer that.

I recently got sent a Megami Paradise art book too! So uploading that to archive.org sometime in the near future. I think it's based on the OVA, but not 100% sure.

I wonder about the "Just isn't for me" thing since often when I talk to people who say that, it's pretty clear they have no real grasp of the genre. How to reach them is something I feel like I'm thinking about more often but it's hard to say if PC-FX is the avenue for that fight lol.

For VNs, do you see that sentiment in the retro game scene too? I feel like there's a lot of acceptance of that genre in our space but sometimes it's hard to tell how much that is purely anecdotal.

Yeah, to be sympathetic, you don't know what you don't know until you know lol. I feel like Saturn went through a turbulent narrative restructuring for Americans over the last 15 years for that reason. Which hats off to @pandamonium.bsky.social and Shiro crew for doing a lot of the leg work there.

Lol Took longer than I thought it would, honestly, though part of that is because my PC-FX is constantly getting full from mass testing games, so I have to do a bunch of save data transferring.

I also really enjoy the "Which cute boy do I bring with me on this journey" one lol.

Few years ago I did pick up the International version that included the online cutscenes, though they have been modified a bit from the original cutscenes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZIZ...

Dirge of Cerberus is the one that played the biggest role in my life as a kid because I always wanted to know what an online Final Fantasy shooter was like, but then it got removed for the US release lol. Thankfully I finally got some version of my wish with The First Soldier.

Oh that's interesting! I never thought too much about how those get presented to players in Japan, but I always kind of thought it was funny when Square Enix would put out "International" versions, when it felt like a lot of the time they whole different versions from the US/EU release lol.

But if someone is mostly here for the scenarios, I can definitely seem cutting that being a big plus.

Personally, I think there are very rare examples of "definitive" versions of games since, even if a game was changed with the intention of improving it, it often comes at some sort of cost. Simplifying the raising elements seems feels like gameplay depth being lost for the benefit of accessibility

I would absolutely love to hear it if you do! Weirdly enough, PC Engine is a big blind spot for me, so I often rely on other people for information in that regard, lol. But thankfully, there's a pretty big dedicated fan base over there. Well, at least in context of the PC-FX's fanbase size lol.

I really need to get my cohost to scan the manual so I can nose around what's actually going on lol.

But my impression is that the PC-FX version is more about just selecting different options throughout the process. You can also choose their pay, but I I'm not sure how this impacts them or if it's also just for different story content. Basically, I need to play more probably lol.

I've only played through the game a couple of times on PCFX, but it seems like the PC Engine version you would raise/lower stats based on what training you did. There is a stats screen in the PC-FX version but I don't believe they ever changed. But I haven't tried to fully explore the game yet.

I'm having trouble finding his involvement in many other video games, but he did at least do art for various books, including Tokyo Eye-Shot Shadowrun City File.

Did you know there was a Vinyl Release for the soundtrack? www.veryokvinyl.com/products/chi... I was gifted one by the owner but have no way of playing it so lol.
