I'm the mosaic cat on Twitter. I hate that that sentence makes sense.

I spent a summer working for a nonprofit advocating for alternative voting systems and helping municipalities implement them. There is literally no principled reason to stick with first past the post.

It's the first night in a while where I forgot to take my meds. And I know causation isn't correlation, but.....

I always say about green chili that, "like love, it's only good when it hurts a bit." And I don't mean it, but deep down, I don't don't mean it, you know?

I'm a bit obsessed with this idea.

It's not confidence they're lacking; it's a work ethic. And that is in no way your fault.

If I wanted to focus on being embodied, I wouldn't be reading Duns Scotus.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."

Again, Jansenist-adjacent guy here: God hates PLENTY of people.

Have sex however you like, but there are some perversions even I cannot countenance.

"'Imperfect matter can never be perfected by even excusable ignorance!' he screamed, as the three nurses bound him to the table and injected the sedative."

They'll research the proper wool to use for the tunics at Agincourt, but they'll have the priest say mass versus populum in a surplice and preaching scarf. Insane.

As an aside, it's a bit mental that tv/movies NEVER get catholic vestments right. IT'S NOT HARD.

I'd love to see the Godfather sequel/reboot set 30 years later that's just the good cardinal being tortured on hell for 2 hours.

(This is why, BTW, I can't make myself go to Confession, even of it makes me feel better on occasion. It's funny; I don't believe in a Christian God, but I'm very committed to sacramental theology. Which is even more intrinsically disordered than the gay stuff.)
comment in response to post
No. And doing so was sacrilege.

Please, sir, save the sexy talk for DMs; children are present.
comment in response to post
There's always doubt. Again with the liar, the priest can never know if the matter is present.

(But I lean Jansenist in a lot of my sacramental theology, so I tend to be very rigorous in my sacramental theology.)

And niceness has nothing to do with it; I'm sure Hitler at least once felt contrite for a fight with Eva Braun, and at least once St. Alphonsus held a grudge. Only the former has even the prereq for absolution.
comment in response to post
I'd argue *almost* definitionally that asking for forgiveness when able is necessary for contrition.
comment in response to post
(I was trained by very traditionally minded Dominicans when I first learned my catholic fundamentals, like sacraments. So my fundamentals lean very Thomist/peripatetic, lol)
comment in response to post
And fwiw, I'd say that you cannot give the old man Absolution, prot or not, without some expression of contrition, much less sufficient contrition, because, again, the defect is one of matter, not form.
comment in response to post
How is a conditional formula in different than an absolute formula used on invalid matter, eg someone who just pretends to be sorry? Either way, the defect is one of matter, nor form.

It's never done with us....

Yeah, I've wanted that tattoo for a while.

With that guy, it was more like twink MASSACRE.

Have you ever thought of publishing your blogposts/guides to the CH as a book? I think it'd be amazing. I'd be happy to help editing/synthesizing, if you needed it.
