Apparently they have miscalculated the angle of the slip way, and somehow need to lift one end to get it to sit properly. This is beyond the towing capacity of the kayaks

It's apparently not packing crates, it's literally just cardboard boxes and packing tape. Nether of which is waterproof

I have had one beer, I'm not drunk enough to understand what's going on

I only worry that it's setting the bar too high!

A) No space - take a look at some uk flats on Rightmove & tell me which item of furniture you're giving up for the a/c b) the venting on those things works best with a style of windows that we don't really have in the UK which makes them much less effective, as there's hot air getting back in

My neighbours who had a security light pointing directly at my bedroom window finally adjusted it once I put that stuff up, so it does seem to glare if the light is bright enough - but probably only an issue if it's sorry bright direct sunlight

Yeah, even if you own & have the money it can still be a problem doing anything. Given our bizarre ownership structure, if you own a flat via leasehold you effectively have a landlord who gets a say over what you can do. Blocks of flats are often the places that most need *something* doing

There are some billionaires I would enjoy seeing racing in this heat! A bit of heat exhaustion vomiting would be good for them

Cool, we just need to rapidly adapt all of central and northern Europe's architecture and infrastructure for a hot-humid climate although it was was built over centuries for a moderate-to-cold humid climate. Totally viable "coping mechanism" right there …

I don't disagree that hospitals should have it, but with quite a large number of NHS hospitals being held up by structural props and in dire need of a rebuild I can see why they're not prioritising the air conditioning. Doesn't really make it any *better*, but at least slightly more understandable
comment in response to post
Because many of the properties that really need it are apartments and the leasehold management structure for those makes it really difficult to get permission to get it installed. If owner occupiers who actually benefit struggle, then tenants are going to take struggle to get their landlord to do it

This is my downstairs neighbours, in our single aspect, South West facing block of flats. I have every window covered and am basically sat in the dark while the thermometer creeps up to 28 courtesy of their sun loving ways (and poor insulation between floors) 😭

At least it's not the wrong way down quite a narrow cycle lane like they do near me! Genuinely terrifying when they're barreling towards you

But generally he just got very annoyed by antisocial behaviour.

So long as everyone understands the importance of queuing properly who cares what colour anyone is?

I refuse to go down them if I can't hug the bannister! Up is *mostly* ok though for some reason

Removal was (for me and for most people I've spoken to) pretty much nothing comparatively, if that's any help. I've had clots that are more unpleasant coming out

I've been to pantos there when I was a kid (obviously the floor wasn't exposed then) and that's a really weird thought

I wondered if this was the TV equivalent of Murderbot being an unreliable narrator - it's focusing on all the ridiculous stuff and not noticing the competence? I'm not sure if that would work though

Do you have a boulangerie recommendation? I spent far too long trying to work out which one had the best looking sandwiches when I was there the other week

Having just cycled past an O'Tacos while cold and wet I remembered this thread and that you said they were actually good and now I am still covered in mud bit also warm and full of cheese

It's something about the idea that you're moving that really works somehow

I now have a mental image of you and Ursula Vernon chatting at a con and ending up daring each other to write the weirdest romantic comedy possible and everyone rejoicing/being terrified at the results

I did this to myself a few weeks ago and every time I've just got the song out of my head someone references it and it returns. Good luck

Hello, fellow hater of unlabelled axes! Every time I see this chart I think this

I think he's meant to be likeable, but changes in morals over time can mean that he just comes across as an asshole, at least in quite a few productions I've seen

I should clarify that I have seen this play performed *a lot* and have views on how Beatrice should be played, so I may be biased. It wasn't bad, it was just not at good as I thought it should be

I saw it last night & had similar thoughts. Everyone (except maybe Hero, but that role is difficult) was amazing in their role but the overall production was a bit... I dunno, incoherent maybe? The dancing was fun, but these guys can really act and it didn't let them shine

He was fantastic, wasn't he? Making Claudio likeable is a difficult gig and he managed it

It’s wild. If a post from a user I don’t know makes me angry or confused, my immediate instinct is to go look at their other posts and see if I’d be making a complete ass of myself by replying earnestly. Do we need a Shitposting Awareness Day?

I don't know how often you get feedback on your giveaways, but books 2 & 3 are now on my kindle, so thank you for introducing me to a fun series

You have my sympathies! For me, my clutch pedal was in the process of dying so I stopped, carefully plotted a route that would avoid stop start traffic to get me home and Google waited until I was somewhere I didn't know well to delete that and reroute me to the closed road. I cried.
comment in response to post
I particularly like when the road is actually closed, it tells you it's closed, but then it routes you down it anyway because the workers fixing the road have their phone somewhere on them as they go up and down on their steamroller and it thinks that means there is access

That video where he built a gaming computer in a muscle vest, with a Barry White soundtrack, while captioning the video something like 'you'll see everything' because the case was perspex was wonderful. Attractive ✔️, nerd ✔️, ability to laugh at himself ✔️

One of my fave Thames Barrier facts is that the government were worried then-head of the GLC Ken Livingstone would kick off at the opening ceremony, with the royals present. So they sneakily invited his mum to it, so he'd behave. She got the boat down with the Queen Mum and they shared betting tips
