#FCDallas' home opener this weekend will be the 1st w Toyota Stadium at ~50% capacity & the start of playing there for the next three MLS seasons while 2/3rd's of the facility (East, West, North sides) are demolished and rebuilt. (credit: @Coach_Suter)

I’m still not sure what she did here but it’s clearly spectacular.

Meanwhile, over in England: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Saturday Night (Netflix)- movie about the 90 minutes prior to the 1st ever episode of the show - the casting is amazing and the story is so hectic it’s exhausting, but it’s supposed to be. Wish I’d seen this before all the 50th anniversary stuff. (B+)

KickAround #396 - We dig into the numerous talking points of the Cherries' win over Wolves, in FA Cup PKs. Plus Andy has something to admit something about Liverpool, USWNT is alright after that loss, a new Law of the Game and Andy went to Spain and eat! www.espn.com/video/clip/_...

sorry, i'm sure there's lots to talk about the team and all, but I'm distracted by the "Eric Quill Hat". what is this look he's going for?🧐

S2 of Severance has not dissapointed, and this week's E7 instantly shoots onto my list of "best ever episodes of TV".

So much to KICKAROUND today at 2pm on @dfwticket.bsky.social

So, Michael Oliver had to go to the VAR monitor to decide THAT was a red card? (didn't see it live, so assuming there's some context that would explain it)

Lots to dig into here, but the highlight is the rule change on keepers holding onto the ball, of which there is already a 6second rule (in-direct FK) that is almost never followed, now is a 8 second rule (now is a corner). 🤷‍♂️ t.co/jEei0s1Cfo

as it hits 300 epsiodes - it has to be one of, if not the, longest running, weekly, MLS club specific podcasts around?

Busy week? This week's Concacast is still as relevant today as it was Wednesday. We've got ... discussions of match manipulation! We've got ... a remote territory trying to join Concacaf! And more! Check it out and subscribe to support the finest regional soccer show. youtu.be/1h9JtJX6ZO4?...

Semi-Auto Offside gets implimented into this weekend's FA Cup game, and this is the detail that might escape many. So, a rules process that is meant to be binary, still starts with a computer's "suggestion" and a human subjective decision.

Hearing @barneyronay.bsky.social compare “watching lots of ManUnited” to the movie SE7EN, is about the most ridiculously perfect thing, ever?

Woke up thinking about that Japan performance last night (of which I only saw the 2nd half). Not sure I’ve seen a team play and work that hard into the 90th minute, w/ that level of team work. Remarkable.

USA/JPN was a bowl of pop-rock ice cream. What a fun game to watch and Japan is relentless. Worthy winners.

MLS unveiled a flurry of rule changes including one that slowly pushes the league towards the NBA style of roster building: non-expiring GAM. My take on that plus more on the latest edition of the newsletter.

This will likely make a lot of people nuts, because he's not a "soccer guy", but Joe IS a known sports biz analyst and, for better or worse, he cuts to the chase in a way that many refuse to accept. youtu.be/-G2VOJxCg44?...

Buzz spent a few years hyping Matt as Dallas' best academy talent ("by far"), only for him to spurn the club, go the USL route and now here we are.

Family owners creating a debt laden and glutenous overstaffed machine of wealthy slop - or hard core corporate accounting nerds ruthlessly slashing excess starting at the most vulnerable margins? neither clearly capable of the actual on-field stuff. 🤷🏼‍♂️

DFW Soccer, y'all. 💪

Dale, as always, gives great insight as to why a decision is (re)made - and here that insight perfectly explains the silly levels of consideration that go into these moments. I still think Everton got done wrong. www.espn.com/soccer/insid...

every year I attend Ticketstock, look at the sea of people and marvel at the ridiculous success story of this radio station 💪

Something I’m trying to do this season is previewing 3 games in my eyes with the biggest intrigue. On FAM, I wrote about what I look for in matches early on and why these specific games stand out as we kick off MLS 30th season!

Season 30 of Burn soccer is here. Got them starting slow, figuring it out and landing in 8th and a play-in spot. Lucho/Musa will be fun, that defense is very TBD. Please ignore the stadium mess (for the next three seasons).

Not sure why they waited till the eve of the season to release this, but the 8 episodes are here. From the “Drive to Survive” peeps is a review of the ‘23 MLS season & the format swaps cars for balls. Hamilton for Messi. Very high production value spent on the curious not the hard core.

unsolicited product recommendation: this Freeze Miser outdoor faucet protector has been exactly as promised. allowing just enough flow of water starting at 36˚ and below. used for two winters now to great success.

for its final months as the supplier of balls to the Premier League - tonight is the debut of the last Nike design, based on my favorite in the 25 years the Total 90. 🥰

American Primeval (Netflix) - The ghost of G.G. Allin inhabited Peter Berg for the purpose to write & direct his 1800’s American West suffer-porn, body-torture magnum opus. Weirdly unsatisfying on all levels. (D)

this is really interesting. how they got Apple to agree to modify their branding is a story in itself I want to hear it.

Beast Games (Prime) - a 10 episode game show where a record amount of money was awarded. Too much playing to the camera. Far too few real moments of surprise/tension. Weirdly, the further it progressed, the lamer the games got - production/sets were more interesting. (C)

the intro of the new MLS Cash Trade rule surprised because it opened the possibility of teams bidding against each other for players - the thing the league fought 30yrs to prevent - and Evander was the perfect test case. Yet, there was no bidding war. In fact, it all worked out a bit too perfectly.

what an unbelievable sentence. "...and the only good news Ruben Amorim received on Sunday was 17th-placed Wolves’ defeat at Liverpool." (John Brewin)

big fun for #KitNerds and MLS fans: Go thru the paces and figure out your offical rankings of the new 2025 shirts. bzzlghtyr.github.io/full-kit-ran...
