In light of this sad affair, the Heard Island penguins might be encouraged to declare war. 😉

The "widely accepted germ theory of disease"?!?!? We have microscopy now including electron microscopy, and we can LITERALLY SEE THE VIRUSES AND BACTERIA. Let's not act like these are two equally plausible theories and one is just more popular than the other. Seriously, WTF is wrong with you?

I don't even want to think of someone like Kristi Noem with nuclear codes.

It's more how to end up with a small fortune by starting off with a large one, LOL.

Bigger Canadian publishers, by the way, do get grants from the Canadian government and that's probably what allows them to stay in business. A small publishing house like mine isn't eligible for any support, but we turn out great books! #BuyCanadian #ShopLocal

You can order our books online from reboundpress.com or pick one up at an author's event. But as I continue signing new authors, I want to make sure that they are compensated properly as creators and that they keep writing. And that means direct sales only.

And remember that selling 15 books at a bookstore is considered very good. A lot of times authors will sit there for hours and sell one or two or even none. Anyway, this is why ReBound Press does not sell in bookstores.

$15 doesn't begin to cover the cost of an author who spends 2 hours in a bookstore hoping to sell books. It doesn't cover their transportation, it doesn't cover the cost of producing the book, and it certainly doesn't pay them anything for all the time they spent writing it.

So remember that small process and self-published authors can only keep doing this if you support them by buying books at their events or purchasing from them directly through a website.

But given how much it costs to produce a book including things like typesetting and art as well as editing, there is no way a small Indie publisher can sell in bookstores and make a profit. ReBound Press would lose money on every book.

He is self-published so he has to buy the books from his hybrid publisher in order to resell them. This is why I don't sell in bookstores. They need to take a 45 to 50% discount from the list price on their end to make a profit.
