Excellent news. My mum had no sense of smell & it affected her practically & was stressful for her in other ways. Our family became her sense of smell when we were with her. Although she passed away several years ago, I still feel I really notice smells, even when they are not harmful in any way.

Well said @danigaravelli.bsky.social It's good to see someone writing so clearly on this.

I need a new tool box. Rather than just buying one, I dream that I become famous. Then get asked on to @richardosman1.bsky.social House of Games and win on the day that the tool box is on offer. My dreams are simple even if unattainable! #LifeGoals

Here are 2 pieces I wrote when I broke the story of William Lindsay's suicide in Polmont in 2018. They expose failings in the prison & the care system. I hope the findings of the FAI into his death & Katie Allan's, released tomorrow, are as damning as they should be. www.scotsman.com/news/politic...

❌ August: Labour axes supercomputer in Edinburgh. 🔍 January: Labour announces... new supercomputer? ✂️ The UK Government pulled £800 million from the Edinburgh project. 👇 Westminster's contempt for Scotland is on full display.

Wes Streeting on BBC, telling people to get the heating on during the cold snap. This being especially important for older people. How have people to put their heating on if they are on a pre payment meter and have no money? It's not as if they are even getting their winter fuel allowance.

Congratulations to Chris and Dianne, they were brilliant and deserved to win. How amazing were the other finalists too? Fantastic dancers and all seemed genuinely delighted that Chris and Dianne had won. A word for CRH too & his poem. Last but not least Dianne's mum and dad. ♥️ Thanks #Strictly

Gisèle Pelicot is Person of the Year. Take note Time magazine.

Thank you to all the middle class women of a certain age who are speaking out. Probably the only ones who feel able to have any sort of a voice. They'll be getting harassed from many quarters so more power to their voices and the sisterhood.

Nigel Farage has his sights on abortion rights. This signature to decriminalise abortion has passed 9k signatures, nearly enough for a response. Please sign and share.

Let's not pretend otherwise, Louise Haigh has lost her job because women are held to a higher standard than men. This is nothing but misogyny. Shame on the person who grassed about her spent conviction. It seems it will be a very small pool who knew. Perhaps someone still jealous of her success?

We need 10 Downing Street to build support and empathy for people who are locked out of decent work by our unjust economy. Listen to our Ruth Boyle talking about the new UK Government White Paper on employment support on Good Morning Scotland. www.povertyalliance.org/wp-content/u...

Supporting Scottish Women's Aid's #StillNotSafe campaign. Women & their children are often at their most vulnerable and in most danger after they leave their abuser. The abuser will look for more ways to control his ex partner, including through child contact arrangements. #16Days #VAW

Never mind Reform voters demanding another election. Not going to happen. My petition to decriminalise abortion is close to 8k. This NEEDS to happen! Please sign and share petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70....

This is both sad and infuriating. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Early winter berry palette, for the possible dopamine it might trigger in your brain. The colour of spindle berries (bottom rightish) never seems quite real...

We are in awe of the determination & bravery of Nikita Hand as she endured the civil process to seek justice for the brutality she received at the hands of Conor McGregor. We hope that the verdict today gives Nikita a sense of vindication and will help her healing and recovery.

In honour of #womeninculture and kicking off #EdinburghHogmanay here's a short thread of near-forgotten Edinburgh writers kicking off with D E Stevenson, second cousin of Robert Louis Stevenson who sold 7 million copies of her 40 novels in her lifetime. Yes, more than he sold in his. /1

Following an FOI request by @thesnp.bsky.social, the Labour UK government confirmed that the Chancellor held ZERO meetings with Labour MSPs ahead of the budget. That includes their leader in Scotland, Anas Sarwar. They didn't just fail to stand up for Scotland - they didn't even try.

On this freezing cold evening I'm thinking about people who can't turn the heating on. @independentage.bsky.social advisers support older people on low income to get what they're entitled to. You can help us by supporting this #gofundme gofund.me/369825d1

This series was a joy to record, even if I had lost most of my voice. Please tune in tonight to hear a croaky me, Phil Wang in marvellous fettle, and some brilliant guests. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...
