They look like they might benefit from a bit of pruning, it’s still not too late, cut spindly branches back by about a third, allowing the tree to grow stronger branches to carry fruit.

Get a composter for the kitchen waste, it’s amazing how quickly you fill it with egg shells, potato peelings, cabbage/ cauliflower leaves, coffee grinds etc Newspaper and cardboard can also be added. Add directly to your compost bin or dig a trench and burry into your beds.

Yes, I had a weekend of digging over a few beds, plus some more temporary repairs to my damaged poly tunnel, so today I’m sat on the sofa with a W.M.Craven book wondering if my backache will subside enough for me to cook some food.

Yes it’s Canker, cut them off & burn. Depends on how bad but fruit trees are quite hardy, it sounds savage but they do recover it takes time, prune apple & pear mainly in winter, cut back about a third. soft fruit plum in summer after fruit is picked.
Lots of advice online, I seal big cuts with wax

Keep all the peelings and discarded veg in home composter and take to add to my compost at the site, also rake up leaves and add those. Once you get growing you’ll have plenty of stuff to compost.
Grow comfrey add that.
There’s no quick solution to composting.
Have more than 1 compost bin, I’ve 3.

I think I was about 11/12 when I first read Dracula, scared the bejesus out of me especially as I live in Yorkshire and had visited Whitby several times, probably tame nowadays, but in the 60s it was terrifying.
Then of course there was Christopher Lee and the Hammer films.

Then put the cloth in a big tub of water and leave for about a month, this makes Comfrey Tea, add a cup full to your watering can before watering, it’s great liquid manure.

Me too, I often cycle along the canal up to Saltaire to visit the exhibition at Salts Mill, which is getting updated with quite a bit of his artwork for the Bradford 2025 ‘City of Culture’ year
