We don't need treatment, we aren't sick.
Or even research for that matter - except into what helps autistic people live better, more fulfilling lives.

Rowling wasn’t sued. Following complaints of harassement, the French prosecutor’s office opened an enquiry. Civil case. Still ongoing, these things take time in France.

Not just some languages, many languages.
And it doesn’t stop with person 1st. Try differentiating impairment, disability and handicap (per the social model) in languages where there is only one word for all 3. e.g. French.
So much disability terminology is Anglo-centric. As are the concepts.

Nothing to do with European vax recs.
Covid vax is still *authorized* (and free) whether or not you’re in one of the recommended categories.

Same in France.
Universally available even if you’re not in one of the “highly recommended” categories.
And free.

If, when my son was first diagnosed, I had access to such a parent guide, I would have known that autism was the way his brain was wired—not buying the bunk vaccine injury theory that my lovely little curly-haired boy was in need of repair, rather than deserving of respectful, tailored supports. 8/

Somewhat misleading post. If you take the whole adult population the figure is much higher than that.
The vast majority of adult autists do not have a diagnosis - or even realize they’re autistic.

Still not getting it.
You can’t “have”autism. There’s no non-autistic person to do the having. It’s who you are.
Autism also isn’t a condition.
Everything you’re saying comes from seeing autism through a pathology paradigm. Cause, have, condition … all medical terminology and medical framing.

Not the point. The point is that there is no “cause” for autism. We’re not sick or damaged.

“In addition, there are suggestions that environmental exposures, including from pesticides and air pollution, may play a role.”
Appalling to see this in an otherwise reliable article.
And “suggestions”. WTF.

Because ADHD, Tourette’s etc don’t have an adjectival form. If they did, the discussion would be very different. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

Not just “you’re not doing normal right” but “you’re not doing autism right”.

I don’t get why people have to gate keep. It’s none of my business whether someone else is officially diagnosed or not. If they self identify as autistic I believe them. Period.

I am tired of media institutions and society saying there is a crisis among white boys and men when everyone else, especially Black women, have been taught their entire lives that they should simply accept stereotypes, mistreatment, fewer opportunities and unfair conditions in schools and workplaces

Not sure what’s worse here, the ignorance or the ableism.

Again, not in any way dismissing concerns that high support autistic people are underserved and misunderstood and need significant supports. But, for instance, not seeing any recognition that #ProfoundAutism "behaviors" can have sensory or medical causes. #INSAR2025

Start with Penny Spikins’ work. Also Casanova et al for the genetics, though there are others.
Neurotribes if you haven’t already read it.

until you’re so good at it that when you finally go for a diagnosis you’re refused one.

Longer than centuries.
As long as there’ve been people there’ve been autistic people.

That wankstain is quoting right from autism speaks , an anti-autism group. Said group speaks over Autistic people’s lived experiences, and wants a cure for autism .
I want a cure for whatever makes these anti-autism people such assholes .
