Right now, Dems are hiding in their offices, scrolling their phones fearfully, wondering "how are voters going to feel about the National Guard being deployed?" The right, meanwhile, is vigorously *attempting to shape* how voters feel about it, filling every medium with coordinated propaganda.

It’s worth remembering that at Bunkerville a handful of asshats with guns stood up to the feds and instead of annihilating them the feds backed off in the interest of remaining civilized. The GOP made heroes out of the protesters.

One thing to remember in all this is that the members of the CA guard are Californians. They are not steeped in the culture of the hand-picked goons of ICE and many of them will understand that immigrants are a vital part of our communities. There is room for peace without surrendering freedom.

@stephaniekelton.bsky.social Apropos of nothing other than the fact I’ve been thinking about it for a while and have never heard it discussed: If the lights came on and the requirement to sell bonds to cover the deficit was repealed, if I understand it correctly, that would set us up /1

Lyft driver picked me up from UNC, turned out he was a medicinal chemistry post-doc in a building near mine, until his grant got cut last month. Worked on novel antivirals.

It is true that Elon has opened the door for democrats. They should tell the American people that Elon is angry because of what this bill takes away from *him* while democrats are mad because of what republicans are trying to take away from *them*. Leave the deficit out of it.

@carbajal.house.gov Oh hell no!!!!! Salud, make some noise about this.

Today feels like wandering into several new verses to Desolation Row.

People keep banging on about trickle down doesn’t work but nobody seems to go on to the next step of explaining why. It is not subtle or mysterious and needs attention. According to the theory, extra rich people money is supposed to stimulate investment leading to broadly beneficial growth. /1

💯

Challenge: Show me some evidence that a lack of available capital is restricting the growth of the economy. It is an absurd proposition.
