The fundamental reason for the Starmer led Labour Government’s pernicious benefit cuts is to demonstrate clear blue water between them and the bulk of the Labour movement.

Starmer and the Labour Party establishment are completely in the pocket of the Israeli state. They even employed a "former" member of the Israeli security services to monitor and manage their social media.

Do you mean Frederick Jacob Theseus Thomas?
I understand that simple Fred, sounds so much more "ordinary people," but it's performative and dishonest.
When they are forced to take sides, they always choose their own class interests.

I always loathed Derek Acorah, but I'm having second thoughts.

Be very careful how you act, when you have a real choice. You run the risk of causing yourself a MORAL INJURY. This might seem inconsequential, until you realise that you now hate yourself and cannot be forgiven.

Surely this is a self-portrait? Is this not how artists live?

We live in a hugely and ever increasingly unequal society, because Government from 1979 onwards has committed itself, or just surrendered to a neoliberal economic model.

As someone who ran a welfare benefits advice organisation for twenty years, it is blindingly obvious that most of those trying to defend the Labour Government's cut of Winter Fuel Payments, have no real understanding of how the benefits system works.

This is THEIR system working EXACTLY as it is designed to do.

We have to start calling these payments from lobbyists exactly what they are; backhanders.
I don't care what the politician spends the money on. A payment to a politician from a lobbyist is to influence that politician.
A payment made to a politician to gain influence is a bribe, or backhander

As a kid, I thought that the maps were the best part of the books. I developed a lifelong fascination with maps and navigation. I also have a love for fantasy novels that is no less keen at the age of 65.

This is a textbook example of THE SLOW VIOLENCE OF THE STATE. Policy actually designed to cause hardship to people who are already disadvantaged and struggling.

The billionaires have got to go, before they kill us all.
They will destroy the planet, to make money they could never possibly spend.
Capitalism, as we’ve understood it, is dead and the billionaires are feeding on the decaying corpse.

Yet another example of the system working exactly as designed. THE SLOW VIOLENCE OF THE STATE.
It is intended to keep us frightened and, most importantly, to keep us quiet.

“Honest Bob” Jenrick is as big a spiv as Farage. A pair of self-serving deadbeats.

This is a perfect description of THE SLOW VIOLENCE OF THE STATE. When the poor die 10 or 15 years earlier than the rich, we are being murdered by Government policy, which sees workers as a disposable commodity.

This is a perfect example of THE SLOW VIOLENCE OF THE STATE. They are allowed to kill the poor, as long as they exercise decorum, to avoid provoking open rebellion. I think that is coming anyway.

I cancelled my membership in 2000, but still voted for them. Things picked up with Corbyn, but it was fairly obvious that he would be assassinated by the establishment, the mainstream media and the right wing of the Labour Party. Starmer and the creatures surrounding him are just beyond the pale.

I’m 65 and I’ve been voting Labour all of my adult life. I was a Labour Councillor for 12 years (1998-2000). Never again.

I’ve heard the same nonsense for years. “Vote Labour or you’re just supporting the Tories/Reform/Whoever comes next.” It’s an argument for supporting the least worst party, rather than the best possible party.

Had to bully my Mum’s GP to have her admitted to hospital and then bully my Mum, with the assistance of her care worker, to get into my car, so I could take her. Mind you, this was two months after we waited for fifteen hours, in a hospital corridor to see a doctor, after she suffered a stroke.

I helped to establish and run an advice agency for twenty years dealing with welfare benefits, housing and debt. I never met a politician of any stripe, or any journalist, with any real grasp of the issues; and especially the complex interaction between them.
