First of all, I said American history.
Second, yes, chattel slavery, carried out over hundreds of years including the torture, murder, rape and inescapable enslavement as property of millions of people, absolutely rivals the Holocaust among the worst acts of humanity.
But sure, fly that flag.

Which I guess just like, by coincidence, happens to be the Confederate battle flag, carried by traitors to America fighting to defend slavery.
And you do it as you *accuse others* of being the modern manifestation of Confederate ideology.
It's genuinely amazing.

Personally, as someone who views the confederacy as traitors to America who fought and died in an attempt to preserve industrialized chattel slavery, the greatest atrocity in American history, I wouldn't fly their flag but that's just me, a modern Democrat that um... Shares their values? lol
comment in response to

you literally fly a Confederate flag and are still telling me that modern Democrats have the "same values" as the Confederacy?
lmao

Hey have any of you guys written a couple dozen articles about the dangerous precedent this sets or are you waiting until Democrats are back in office for that

They're just "reinterpreting" the flag, see?

the crazy thing is watching them all suddenly discover that they've actually all had long-standing resentments against Canada. Truly "we've always been at war with Eastasia" shit

You haven't read that one either.
And anyway, in terms of not sounding like an idiot when you're talking about American history, I would probably favor the history.

You don't even need to read a book for this one, though it would help, but just ask the next person you see flying a Confederate flag if they voted for Kamala and Hillary or if they voted for Donald Trump.
And I wonder if having a world full of allies would have been helpful against Britain? Hmm 🤔

I'm begging you to read a book. Like, an actual well-researched history of America by an actual legitimate historian. Not a podcast, not Joe Rogan, an honest-to-god book. Just one.

Are you talking about the century with the two world wars and the great depression or the one with the civil war and the White House getting burnt down

Tell me what year that was, that we were 'a proper country' that didn't 'give two flying fucks about what other countries think'

I understand that you're 'seeing things' from the perspective of an ignorant, uninformed idiot and I'm letting you know that betraying our closest ally by "making jokes" about annexing them and blowing up our alliances because they're "leeches" is about to have terrible consequences for all of us.

you logged on the internet and said some dumb shit

This doesn't sound like a "joke" anymore, does it?
But cool I guess we'll get to find out what happens when we turn all of our "leech" allies into enemies and blow up our alliance because you and Trump have been mainlining Russian propaganda for 15 years.

That's the joke? "I would love to see that" "if people wanted to play the game right, it would be 100% certain they become a state" is the joke? Or are we not doing the "It's just a joke" thing anymore?

Can you tell me which part of this joke I'm supposed to laugh at

Which part of this is the joke?
comment in response to

Hey could you do us a favor and call your representatives in congress and let them know that it would be a terrible decision to try to force Canada into being the 51st state and that you hope Trump is joking about it because he keeps "joking" about it over and over and not laughing?

The most important thing to remember about John Brown and Harriet Tubman is that they broke the law and were therefore fascist criminals.

And "Illegal" is still plenty bad for your purposes. If Biden were to have overridden courts to force student loan forgiveness for instance, you could rightfully have been outraged and called it illegal. That would perfectly suit it. Calling it fascist would be just a plain misuse of language.
comment in response to
post
I mean, even that's not accurate.
If a mayor takes a bribe and meddles in a procurement of a city project outside of his authority to steer it to the briber, that's illegal and corrupt, it's not fascist.
If fascism just meant illegal we wouldn't need the word. Fascism is an ideology.
comment in response to
post
I mean, that's just plainly not accurate.
Defying the law is a component of fascism, it's not in itself fascism.
An elected official driving drunk is defying the law, it's not fascism. An elected official embezzling money to buy himself a car is defying the law, it's not fascist.

I would agree if it were about him smoking weed while he's pretending to play Diablo. It's not lame and unproductive when he's constantly this way in public while running our government.
