I’ll be delighted, there is no value to a US trade deal with this administration.

“We don’t need no education, we just need our thoughts controlled, no phlosophy in the classroom, DoE leave them kids alone” (with apologies to Pink Floyd)

Zelensky has just cut short a visit abroad to be back at home on a day when Ukraine has lost nine to an attack on its capital. Basic humanity dictates that al least you stay quiet, but no, the US President says this. The man has no redeeming feature, he’s a monster.

Oh I can….he’s a knave and a fool.

No Lee and Wilko, no punk, Dr Feelgood were best live band in London in their day…I spent a long time trying (and failing) to play like Wilko, I need another Black & White Telecaster

Sorry, this is how the US Government chooses to represent itself, if some guttersnipe of a social media manager is taking too much initiative, then fire them but accept reaponsibility like a grown up - christ its not as though firing staff is new to them. If this was my government, I’d feel shame.

This is aimed directly at Immigrants, indirectly at all citizens as a way to intimidate and silence the wider population.

…and chemicals, read the back of a European Bottle of Fanta or bag of Crisps, read the back of its US equivalant and tell me which one sounds healthier.

More pertinently, most countrys would have had him locked up on the evening of January 6th. That your system could not do that shows why and how this can happen again without real reform. Wake up!

I think its fair to say that if your using a Taser you’ve lost the argument. I don’t know where this party goes after Trump, but I thinknits a long, long time out of power. Ask the UK Tories about life after you’ve kicked out your dissenters

Please exlain why I wouldn’t recruit from the whole talent pool and then develop a culture where those people can thrive, progress and do their best work. Thats what, in essence, all a good DEI policy involves….so please explain what the problem is.

How could we? We’re just a bunch of freeloaders who haven’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years. Maybe they ahould have asked the Chinese Peasants for help.

“what do you think he’s really trying to achieve here?” Is not an appopriate response to US President encouraging a foreign despot to quintuple the size of his concentration camps so he can take US nationals and residents. Revulsion is bettee, this man will blow us all up unless you act soon.

The man has to go…

It IS Trump’s fault. Making the US president your bought amd sold creature was a prerequisite. Without the Presidents craven cowardice and treason, its hard to see how we aren’t closer to peace. Oh…and assume your responsibilities like a grown up you snivelling little manboy.

“Tarriff is the most beautiful word in the english language”…have you come across the word “Albatross” Mr Trump?

If I think about the mental anguish of those men women and children trapped in hotels while those inspired by your rhetoric tried to set fire to their homes, I’ve very little compassion.

You’re missing the point, those inside the tent that bought the dip made a lot of money.

Todd Lyons…America’s Heinrich Himmler. Himmler thought of the final solution as fundamentally a process and logistics solition to a challenge set by the Leader too.

Like all zealots, Stephen Miller would be a mediocrity were it not for his capacity for slavish devotion. An evil little man.

You’re right, but there is a scaled non-dollar denominated oil trade…could it scale further?

Anyone that thinks taking Red Crescent Aid Workers into the desert, murdering them, burying them in a shallow grave and then lying about it are activities consistent with the teachings, tenets and morals of Judaism is, by defintion the real Anti-Semite.

OK - so all that work getting undocumented migrants to pay their taxes, partly driven by a sense of civic duty, all gone, billions of dollars in tax revenues all gone, workers to do the fantasy manufacturing jobs generated by your bonkers trade war all gone. There is no plan at all is there.
comment in response to post
Oh get real…what makes you think a factory job will put a roof over you head, food on the table & a car in the driveway? Even if you lived in a fantasy world where foreign competition no longer exists, you’ve spent forty years vilifying & weakening the unions that got you the wages in the 1st place.

“Can I call you Ian?”…” “No!…have we been introduced?…No…so it’s Mr Dunt to you guttersnipe” (welcome to middle age Mr Dunt).

The thing everyone is missing, is that America manufactures more today than its ever done, but automation means its dome with less people.

All he needs to do is talk about the fact that these are extraordinary times, all options are on the table. To even frame this as “going backwards” just paints him into corner…again…i’ve never known a UK Governent so keen to bind its own hands unnecessarily as this one.

I think it might…this man has a real talent for making enemies, even GOP is now breaking ranks, he’ll be gone by the Autumn at this rate…don’t by a lettuce just yet, but add one to the shopping list

The only place this attitude still exists seems to be the timid “we are not looking at rejoining the Customs Union” mantra of the current Government - can you at least dignify the proposition with some reasoned economic thinking? You’ll piss off Reform anyway, so grow a spine and do the right thing!

Selling you a Land Rover, or a jar of Marmite, or a Harrier Jump Jet does not make me a rapist unless I buy a Harley Davidson. Its a contention as absurd as it is unpleasant.
comment in response to post
That Westminster in general & the Conservative Party in particular can select £ promote this patently unfit person to high(est) office is evidence of how much we need reform (for US readers replace Westminster & the Conservatives with Washington & the Republicans).

So if Lesotho sells its diamonds on the exchange in London rather than direct to the US, then they can negotiate a lower tarriff on the diamonds they’ve stopped selling to the US….clever!

@sturdyalex.bsky.social said of Boris Johnson that his worst enemy was himself and that he would bring himself down. I think this is equally true of Trump; so much hubris…nemesis is coming.
comment in response to post
It’s the hubris that’s so breathtaking. Who needs annoying security when you have Signal? Economists to design a tarriff system - “here, pass me that Sharpie”? USAID…I’ll just shout “WOKE!”. Nemesis is going to be really painful.

Considering their origins, Starmer is a walking, talking example of how far you can rise if you have brains, talent and work very hard….in other words…aspiration. Johnson (and Trump) is an example of how an expensive education can be a wasted investment if the recipient is a knave.

Economic wisdom from the only man capable of bankrupting a casino. A game show host is not necessarily an economic expert - same way I’m not going to play Inside Left for Crystal Palace because I’m a qualified accountant.

The rule JD Vance objects to prohibits anti abortion protests directly in front of an abortion clinic. It doesn’t prohibit free speech, it does stop vulnerable women & staff facing intimidation. Badenoch should be ashamed of herself. Vance is an overpromoted misogynist thug so I’m not surprised.
comment in response to post
Oh…I get that the real world doesn’t work that way…all I’m saying is that someone shouting about “lawfare” and “witchhunts” is really saying is “the rules shouldn’t apply to me”…which means I’ll vote for the other candidate every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
comment in response to post
Also the deeper point that to live in a society governed by laws we obey laws in order to be free. A citizens duty to obey the law and their right is to vote on how to change them. So you cannot seek to govern in a society of laws if you break the law and try to justify the offence.
