we did a lot of roadtrips and my mom would always get the AAA maps for whichever region we were going.
my parents would figure out the routes on the dining room table and show my sister and me.

need a pithy shorthand to describe how the results of policy polling just describe public opinions on policy framing rather than policies-in-themselves.

if he plays Alan Jackson’s “where were you when the world stopped turning”, you would get my full experience riding the bus to school in seventh grade

some of it was weather since March was windy* but there were 7-8 GWs of capacity installed last year which was around a 5-6% increase in capacity factor
*I’m in the industry one of our job sites had almost all of March delayed due to wind days preventing cranes from lifting blades

Top right are “half free morels” which aren’t as good. Top left are pheasant back which I normally use to make a mushroom stock.

I normally find the first fruiting between May 1-15 and sometimes into June. I’m gonna go again this weekend and hope for the best but I think I might have missed them.
This was last year’s 3 lb haul:

this is the first year I haven’t found any yet by this time of year since I started in 2020.
It has been an exceptionally weird year for them since it had been hot and dry, then cold and wet. (They want soil temps higher than 50°F and rain to fruit.)

“it’s called xxxx” and “it’s almost like xxxx” are two of the more annoying phrases from internet arguments
devoid of any substance and just a dumb way to reiterate your point like it’s self evident.

IMO, the biggest hurdle right now is finding labor. We can’t get enough crane operators to lift blades or laborers to throw PV panels. Pay for a basic laborer is pretty good with ~15 hrs a week overtime, most people just don’t want to live in the middle of nowhere for six months.
