These are the people that make America great 🇲🇽🇺🇸

I'm proud I don't have Andrew Cuomo's record of corruption, scandal and disgrace. And the name is M-A-M-D-A-N-I.

When a cabinet member announces "We are using the military to liberate an American city from its elected leaders," where do you go from there. What is left to say. The idea of that being anything short of a near-universal "Wait, what the fuck is going on" moment proves how far we've backslid.

Pope Leo’s first US episcopal appointment, San Diego’s Bishop-designate Pham, a Vietnamese refugee, invites priests and faith leaders to “stand in solidarity”with migrants at courthouse on June 20, as they make court appearances.

I’m so glad that Disney & Universal are recognizing that these machine learning applications are “free riders” and bottomless pits of plagiarism.” I can wait til they pledge to never use them again and not replace human artists with them.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee: “Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

EVERYONE, The Onion is extremely on sale for the next five days. $75 gets you a year's worth of the last good newspaper delivered to your real life mailbox. Father's Day is in five days. America's dads love being duped by wrong information. Buy one for each of your 7 dads. membership.theonion.com

it really speaks to how trump does not see himself as a steward of the white house or the presidency but as its owner. he will do with it as he pleases.

this is good

This is what we're talking about when we say it's antisemitic to conflate all Jews everywhere with the actions of the Israeli govt. Defacing a memorial to the 1/3 of world Jewry that Hitler slaughtered won't free Palestine, but it does tell me a lot about you. 🎁🔗 www.haaretz.com/world-news/2...

Black and Latino representatives barred from accessing federal facilities in their districts; meanwhile white ones are whisked to El Salvador so they can literally do photo ops.

This is such a great point. When the traditional indicia of authority (shields, officer names and numbers, IDs, warrants, FACES!) are missing, and the masked Proud Boy-looking agents are disappearing people off the streets, it starts to seem prudent to believe anyone who claims to be ICE. Sickening.

TLDR:

The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

Them: “LA is a full on insurrection” Us at the protest:

It’s not just that it’s clearly intentional, it’s that it’s clearly intentional knowing that he’s being recorded. They know they can do whatever they want with complete impunity.

1 in 12 Americans live in California. 1 in 35 Americans live in LA County. LA is America

Hello. I live in Los Angeles. The president is lying.

When someone tells you buses could never be free, ask them how much they pay to take the Staten Island Ferry.

ICE arrested 36 Chinese & Taiwanese immigrants after raiding an LA nightclub. That's them, ziptied on the sidewalk. Yo Asians—if you weren't already outraged and mobilizing on behalf of others, guess what? That "First they came for the..." poem has gotten up to us. www.latimes.com/california/s...

Between the fires and these protests, I hope this year teaches everyone that most of the shit talking you hear about California and more specifically, LA, comes from racists and gentrifying transplants. Most people love living here and would do anything to protect it.

Here, I made a helpful graph to assist with “Cities are where very, very large numbers of Americans live” discourse, with real Census data and everything.

With 18 days to go before June 24th, we’re focused on winning an affordable New York for working families. Remember, #RankTheSlate, and don’t rank Cuomo!

Get ready for “Red Dad Summer.”

Opposing Andrew Cuomo is a non-negotiable for our membership. In light of today’s news that Jessica Ramos has endorsed Cuomo, our New York City CAP Council immediately voted to unendorse her on our ballots. @uawregion9a.bsky.social region9a.uaw.org/news/NYCMayo...

This article on another California prison closure includes a pretty stunning fact: Incarceration in California is down 45% over the past ~20 years. And even with a pandemic-era bump, crime is down. calmatters.org/justice/2025...

In amongst all the excitement I fear many have missed this outstanding bit of trolling by Friedrich Merz. The Chancellor gifted Trump a gilded framed copy of his grandfather’s German birth certificate... reminding Americans that Trump is both the child and grandchild of migrants.

Updated my yard sign.
