Difference lies in personnel. Fully equipped has 1 basic EMT and 1 paramedic, trained to administer cardiac drugs. Basic ambo has 2 basic EMTS and no cardiac drugs. Docs wanted him in fully equipt ambo but MedicareAdvantage denied coverage. I paid for basic ambo myself, separate from Medicare bill.

Here's an example of the scam: While on MngdCare, spouse in hi-level brain trauma unit after massive stroke. After 10 days, docs want to shift him to hi-level rehab 120 miles away. One bed avail. Fully equipped ambo=$20,000. Basic equipped ambo=$5,000. I went w/basic + held my breath. He made it.
