Honestly? I think we need to stop being afraid of Yarvin. We've known from almost the start that the courts can't fully stop a takeover like this, they can just delay it. The rest is up to us. All I want from Judge Boasberg is for him to give us as much time as possible to wake Americans up.

Just a quick update to this thread, the ACLU has now submitted this request

He is. He's in the middle of contempt hearings atm. Not sure how he'll rule yet, but he's gathering information and names for now.

It has been one week and Judge Boasberg is already on hearings for potential contempt. This is about as fast as any judge has been so far, lol.

I tried answering that on another post in this thread, but yes, ACLU plans to ask the judge to bring them back (somehow) if the judge rules that his order was violated. In other words, we'll have to wait a while longer, sadly.

Just to be clear, I'm pretty sure this was why Judge Boasberg came in so fast with a TRO in the first place, because it would be a lot harder to get them back than to just stop deporting them in the first place.

The ACLU has said they will ask the judge to bring them back, though it may not work since the judge has no authority over foreign nations. I've heard it MIGHT be possible to tell the US gov to stop paying El Salvador to host prisoners until their release.

So if Elon DOES end up getting information about war plans for China, we can come back to this and quote Trump himself saying that Elon is, "perhaps", in a conflict of interest. Great. 👌🙄

Judge Boasberg might have someone else in mind. If I'm reading it right(?), he wants someone higher up than Cerna to give a declaration. Once he gets that declaration, he'll get another possible name on the list. I'm not a lawyer tho, so idk.

There's quite a few people on bsky covering a lot of these cases, if you were interested. Just a handful

I wonder how many more Republicans we'll add to the "concerned" list before this is all over.

Part of why these judges are going so slow, especially against the government, is so they can make the case as strong as possible when it (inevitably) gets to SCOTUS. It's not ideal, but it's necessary.
That said, I'm pretty sure this is the furthest we have gotten yet to a contempt case.

I'm pretty sure this judge knows a whole lot more about what it means to invoke "state secrets" than the DOJ lawyers at this point.

I am loving this judge, lol. It takes a lot to keep a cool head through all this.

Actually, idk if 'muddying the waters' is the correct term for this. Not sure what the term would be here.
comment in response to
post
Yes, this is more delay by muddying the waters so the judge can't (yet) establish the facts of the case. That said, this motion also shows a lot of what the DOJ is hoping to achieve overall. IMO, they want a complete restructuring of the judicial branch.
comment in response to
post
It's like the DOJ wants to redefine the entire way the judicial branch works, under the guise of 'making the branches coequal'. The disdain they have for these judges, due process, and just general fact-finding is extraordinary.

The Democrats are definitely inspiring me. They're inspiring me to vote them all out so we can have a proper party.
The DNC having a "low approval rating" doesn't mean people will sit the next election out. Keep working with each other and keep protesting.

Gillibrand? The same Gillibrand who voted to help Republicans gut Medicaid? That Gillibrand?

Stop giving in to people who don't want democracy in this country. Your voters have said what they want. LISTEN and vote NO.

Makes sense. It seemed like Dellinger has been putting his oath first through all of this to do what he can to help us and federal workers. With SCOTUS the way it is, definitely smart to let stronger cases through. Was a good fight 😢

A clear, concise message for the American people, front & center. That it was taken from you and thrown just reinforced it.
I hadn't heard the "This is Not Normal" message before this. Walkouts/disruptions are great tools, but so is PROPER MESSAGING which the DNC has been failing at. Very well done

I get why so many people here are frustrated, but part of why this didn't make a bigger statement is because so many OTHER Democrats didn't walk out too. Those are the ones I'm most frustrated with right now. Also, Rep. Stansbury was 100% seen.
I want to see you all supporting Rep. Al Green next.
