Through their own Triumph of the Will, this is what many MAGA people want and mean by “own the libs.”

Call me a cynic, tell me I’m being too negative, overreacting, but I honestly think there are plenty of MAGA people celebrating this right now.

Precisely. We could go back to taxing them at 90% and they would still be lavishly wealthy.
comment in response to post
MAGA expects unemployed project managers, graphic designers, technical writers, etc. to do these jobs.

Great post Adam. Agree completely. “Divide and conquer” involves not being divided and having an open mind.

Ironically, if one looks back through history, widespread hunger has almost always been a precursor to how wealth inequality ends as in, revolt,, widespread violence, revolution.

That’s a very tried and true way to protest for sure. Going back to Gandhi, even longer, I’m sure. If you’re just sitting down you’re passive, you’re not an aggressor.
comment in response to post
Excellent post. I’m completely against violence and destruction, but a full supporter of protesting, including direct action, especially in a time like now.

Correct. Pelosi and a few others even made phone calls to try to get the Guard there. They were effectively directed to capitol security and DC police. We saw all they had - a handful of security officers and FBI agents, and they were vastly outnumbered, as we saw.
comment in response to post
Except it wasn’t the person being grabbed committing violence that was just a protester resisting being taken away by the police. I don’t view that as violence. if anything, it’s the cops that were committing violence.
comment in response to post
I’m completely against destroying property and violence in general, but I fully support these people did here. We absolutely need more support like this!
comment in response to post
As an old saying goes, there’s safety in numbers. We need big, BIG numbers. The more people who can peacefully protest, the better.

I fear we can no longer rely on judges. Trump believes the law is only for those who obey it, this doesn’t apply to him. Well, when lawmakers break the law then there is no law. They can only be stopped at that point.
comment in response to post
We’ve reached the point where MAGA Republicans cannot be trusted to do the right or moral thing. To Trump and his ilk morality is for suckers, and the law only applies to those who obey it. Thus, when lawmakers break the law then there is no law. They can then only be stopped.

The “problem” is, the people who need to read this will never see it. The vast majority of people in red states get all their info from Fox, Trump himself, or unhinged, far-right crackpots on social media playing to their fears. Paywall bypass link: archive.ph/2025.06.11-0...

Congress is under the power of old, passive, “Schumercrats.”

Nice to see him grow a pair. The Democratic Party needs a fighter. Trump is the kind of bully who will only be stopped when a bigger, nastier bully comes along, and punches him right in the proverbial nose, and isn’t afraid to kick him in the nuts; for Trump will do the same if given the chance.
comment in response to post
Not just the cop. Someone both ordered him, and trained him to act like this. His commanding officers, but also whomever instructed both law enforcement and the military to stop protesting (guess who?).
comment in response to post
We just don’t do this because we’re still under the blind belief that capitalism will supply all the more good jobs that anyone needs.
comment in response to post
In case this isn’t entirely clear what I mean is there’s plenty of work to be done already in society. It just doesn’t exist in paid jobs; helping the elderly, helping the disabled, working in community gardens, cleaning up city parks, pulling invasive species in green spaces, etc.

I’ll make the argument that a parecon (participatory economy) could be coupled to a UBS. Basically in just a handful of years, when a third of the population can’t find any meaningful work, they can be rewarded in effect by participating in needs toto be done that AI can’t, to improve society.
comment in response to post
Exactly. MAGA sycophants should be flying the Nazi or Confederate flag.

According to Trump, these jobs of them be filled with people like out of work project managers, graphic designers, etc. You can see that happening, can’t you?

WTF is the LAPD doing Trump’s bidding?
comment in response to post
As in several years or decades of violence, unfortunately.

When lawmakers, and the enforcers break the law, then there is no law.
comment in response to post
That’s great and all about the law. But who is going to stop them? Citizens throwing rocks?
comment in response to post
The more I think about what Adam wrote the more I’m pondering he believes Trump will meet the same fate as many dictators through history. I’ll just leave it at that and let someone look it up if they want.
comment in response to post
I unfortunately have to disagree. There are still millions of people supporting him, backing him without hesitation. I’m almost certain he’ll die in office - whether that’s because he’s old, or he’ll declare martial law and stay in power after 2028, or he meets his fate by another hand.
comment in response to post
Oh I know! My best friend lives in Tampa. He said the same exact thing. You even see it on televisions in places like McDonald’s - start the brainwashing while they’re young.

In fact, any one of us can point to plenty of CEOs, or politicians for that matter, that I’ve definitely proven themselves to be bad with money.
comment in response to post
Yes. This is one of the biggest fallacies pushed by the media. Studies have indeed shown instead people use the UBI to pay their bills primarily. They may go out to dinner a little more they may buy a little more clothing perhaps but only a rare few are “bad” with the money.

Yes. I’ve heard for example Fox News plays on many TVs in military bases.

A lot of people said, or strongly suspected this would happen. The key is what we are willing to do to resist? As the old saying goes, there is safety in numbers. The more peaceful Rebellion protestors that show up, the harder it will be for the Empire to suppress.
comment in response to post
Both are morally bankrupt people who only care about money and power. So if they see a possible benefit in that regard, they will try to keep a partnership to some degree.

I used to live in CT (where Peter is from), he was always on the edge, but has now gone completely off the deep end, just like his father did. His father died in prison, btw.
comment in response to post
But all the same AI is already chewing into skilled jobs. Look at the entire creative sector. The inevitable coupling of the two, AI and automation (robotics) is what will replace a massing amount of tasks (this jobs) and why a UBI, and participatory economy needs to be planned and implemented.
comment in response to post
You are of course correct. But I’d add jobs are already vanishing. Even for skilled workers. Anyone who has tried to find a job in the last few years knows this, regardless of puffed up Labor numbers. And Trump’s huge tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations won’t help, they’ll make it worse.
