I work in this industry - lemme collect my thoughts and try and respond in the morning.

Eeeeehhh I think its both true that he has been like this for a long time and also true that he's gotten much worse. Slower, and much more prone to just literal non-sequiturs instead of bizarre tangents.

Magneto's plan in the first X-Men film is flawless: find the senator most vocally targeting your minority group and turn them into a horrible goo

Ok this is obvious when you point it out but genuinely thank you for spelling this out.

Yeah this is correct and honestly I don't know man, it's his voice but like... this just isnt right. Not sure how you stop it but it sucks.

Yup! Having *a* Chipotle, Swig, Crumbl is exciting because you've read all about it and want in on the experience. Having those plus a mediocre Hibachi chain that replaced or choked out the local Chinese spot - it sucks actually!

I disagree with "irrational", for almost all of human existence change and the unknown included violence, famine, incurable disease and more. It's very rational imo we would avoid it as soon as we could afford it, even if the end result kind of sucks in hindsight.

I'll defend chains to an extent - Americans by and large crave reliability. But Dollar General is very exploitative of its employees, other stories, and communities.

This is more correct - fascism smooths out context and makes it difficult to have political conversation more complicated than "Actually we should not be ruled by a dictator". But alas we live in increasingly fascist times.

You can simultaneously love the idea of McDonalds that exists in your head and hate what the real thing is (insanely exploitative evil burger factory). You do not have to feel shame in enjoying a McRib even though you know it's slop!

I literally just moved to an apartment where I very much can't do this and lemme tell you - it fucking sucks! I am living in the pod (driving) and eating the bugs (food from Walmart) and I do not like it one bit.

Anecdotal but I have noticed my feed over here is finally more robust than over there. I can't say what the specific threshold for "Yes there are nazis but!" is, but we're clearly getting there!

I have honestly caught myself more or less unironically saying that lately. We need a state subsidized program to have stupid people watch "Joker" in IMAX until it sinks in for them.

This is something I think about often - you do in fact have an obligation to others! You do have to answer the phone, and people do have the right to knock on your door. This was getting bad pre-covid but after it is totally out of control.

This is really good however as a life-long Grover just mentioning it will unfortunately cause people to defend one of the ugliest flags I have ever seen.
