The Baltimore County Fire Department is battling a brush fire that broke out Saturday night near Sheppard Pratt and GBMC hospital www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/cl...

Wanted to be here but couldn't, glad there was a good turnout

If the President of Ukraine, whose country depends in part on American support to continue withstanding a hostile invasion, can stand up to Donald Trump's bullying and firehose of bullshit, so can politicians and journalists in this country with far less to lose.

why do I still have pants on

"You never said 'Thank you.'"

Wild to me that the dominant reaction on here seems to be that this is bad journalism because it treats a Trump voter as a human. I'm not a strategist but if you belong to a party that wants to win elections, shouldn't you regard folks like this as part of your next coalition instead of the enemy?

Bezos is not acting out of fear. He is participating in a political project that benefits him. This distinction is important.

i am not dopamine scrolling. i am not doom scrolling. i am simply continuing my search for the single sentence that will explain everything. its out there. lets find it

perhaps it was inevitable, but now we know how the Civil War finally begins www.inquirer.com/real-estate/...

This Berenstain Bears lunchbox from 1993 captures a simpler time, before internet misinformation and social media, when the family computer primarily provided us with incomplete jigsaw puzzles, treble clefs, apples, and live fish

I clearly haven't thought of or eaten this cereal in a while since I'm just now learning about its discontinuation, but the fact that it's gone forever is making me sad. This was a staple in our house growing up in the 90s.

Well done, @alissazhu.bsky.social @jessicagallagher.bsky.social and Nick! This is a huge achievement. www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/lo... #journalism

We had this growing up and I probably leafed through it every single day for an entire decade. Loved it.

Igloo recalls over a million coolers after handle hazard causes fingertip amputation injuries

Star Wars: X-Wing (Totally Games/LucasArts) was released 32 years ago. I absolutely loved this game, which had both narrative and strategic depth. And The Farlander Papers, a novella by Rusel DeMaria, back when short stories were sometimes included in the limited edition game boxes. 🤌

gonna try these

Just saw a post where someone said that use of em dashes (—) was a giveaway that you're using AI for writing. Uh, no. It could just mean you like to use em dashes.

Cheering on the death of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is just incomprehensible to me, unless you own a bank or something. Like you're just fucking stupid, sorry.

This is the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time.

One of Musk’s DOGE employees was apparently a user on KiwiFarms, a hate website that existed almost solely to bully/harass minorities into suicide. Think of the worst person on 4Chan, working with 16K other equally awful people to ruin lives. That’s who’s in charge. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

listening to Trump talk tonight about US annexing Gaza and expelling the Palestinians to a place where they can live in "peace and harmony" and I'm sickly reminded of "The Final Pogrom" by Dan Simmons from The Last Dangerous Visions, edited by Harlan Ellison and @straczynski.bsky.social

i’m beginning to think putting the billionaires in charge of the news media was the wrong idea

Which is as-designed. Which is why these paywalls need to go. Which is why news leaders need to make the news attractive (I know you know all this @andreafaye.bsky.social)

And our lives are collateral damage.

We live in Hell and are ruled by demons. Everything is a scam. There is impunity for soulless evil men lacking in any conscience while anyone else who makes any mistakes gets no grace at all.

Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow today and exploded.

If I just read one million more posts tonight, I will have complete control over what comes next

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Before it's too late a reminder that none of what's happening is being done by "Trump." It's being done by Republicans. It's Republicans who blocked Trump from an impeachment conviction. It's Republicans who nominated Trump to be president. It's Republicans who declared him to have total immunity.

Old Person moment #3,760: Dropping a very apt "Scientific progress goes boink" comment in a Slack thread and getting zero emoji reactions

All three 1/350 scale Toronado-class builds - Mazierski, Chaparral and Sirocco.

After four months of construction, sister ships - Sirocco and Chaparral have completed their final fittings and are readied for full-power inspection cruise. 1/350 scale.

That Star Trek Beyond clip dumped me into this fan edit of the Enterprise launch from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which is one of the few fan edits I've ever seen with homemade CGI that actually improves the sequence/film: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdRU...
