You're a hard taskmaster, Rich.
On first look it's tough on Nina and tough on Coltrane too...

I only have 22 of these and, if my maths is right, there are 3,160,080 ways that I could rank them into a top 5 ...

Man alive, this is going to be some task. Bowie could take all the spots, so could Neil...

Weirdly, perhaps, that part made me think of Katherine Sonderegger's recognisable "voice" and prose style.
Hope you enjoy it.

I enjoyed it. I'm still thinking about it & it will probably continue to drip-feed into my thoughts for a while. I found interesting her comments on how feminist theologians have had to create alternative ways of communicating such as memoir, fiction, etc.

Had an interesting discussion about it this week with our students. They were pretty clued up about its dangers.

I read it differently. For Rinthy, I think there is hope. She moves "in a frail agony of grace" (what a phrase!) but Culla is "shambling, gracelorn". Those word choices convey a lot, I think. the way IO read it is that Rinthy finds closure, but Culla doesn't--can't, perhaps...

Probably his bleakest novel, I think. That final scene in the clearing...

Also, to see a child with special needs--the sort of person that many people disdain and marginalise--be the focus of attention of all those highly trained and skilled individuals for such a long operation is deeply humbling.
Thank you to the team at #SouthmeadHospital and the #NHS!

To access that amount of treatment from that many people who are trained so highly for free is absolutely amazing. I the to think how much it all cost and what we would have had to pay if we lived elsewhere.

I remember this coming out, and realising that the guitarist was three years younger than me...
