I really like the MPC live 2 if you've got no prior experience, and want an all in one device. It's more of a sampler + portable DAW with digital synths as part of the DAW. And if you want keys you'll have to get a controller. But I love mine and my MPC key61 if you want keys, but it costs more.

It’s relevant because, for minorities, getting into any industry tends to be tougher. So if they’ve made it, they’ve likely pushed past a lot of barriers to succeed. While it doesn't automatically mean it's great, it can be a solid indicator.
