been lurking in r/usps lately and one thing that i’ve seen the mailmen talk about in there is that a lot of people seem to be very addicted to amazon shopping.

that shook him. the pause and ‘enjoy your life after politics’ comment.

at the very least they’re jealous

think it’s probably more of a ‘they crawled so elon and bannon could run’ type feeling

Saw little kevin bacon walking down the street and only noticed because he was wearing a baseball hat like a guy who never wore a hat before. Like fully unbent brim, too big for head, weirdly perched, and i think made out of leather?

speaking as someone who has worked in tv advertising production for 20 years: the entire point is to do hollywood cosplay for the clients in the marketing departments at p&g or general mills or whatever. That’s the actual customer, not people watching at home.

wasn’t he a carhartt guy? Those are kind of premium in the hoodie space

my mom made me wear a bills poncho to school once and the class bully called me ‘bill the bat’ so i hope they lose

ha yeah that adds a lot of context to the title, did not know

had a similar confusion a few months ago when i saw a 1929 movie called ‘glorifying the american girl’ and there were parts of the opening credits where just the word ‘glorifying’ flashes on the screen a bunch.

what lends credence to this being intentional to me is that he’s clearly very well versed in navigating that particular crappy piece of gear that didn’t catch on. I think he really learned how to use that thing and then went and made that silly beat on purpose

another cassette tape one- feeling the resistance of the spring and the actual weight of the tape head being pushed into place when you press the play button

i wonder if people who live in cities know exactly how reductionist these get. I think the one i saw most often around rural pay was TRUMP SAFE/ KAMALA CRIME

Dunno how subjective this experience is, but this special does insane things to my brain, like i’m on the verge of crying from beginning to end.

I have no memory of CSB existing on the radio or on charts in the U.S. at all.

Keep hearing that about the UK but curious what exactly it means? in the US it’s literally possible to sit in an ER waiting room for longer than 24 hrs, or have to schedule a teeth cleaning with the only in network dentist in your area like 8 months in advance.

kind of interesting that a U.S. fighter pilot in the red sea was so inured to the act of shooting a missile at another plane that this could happen, like how often are they actually doing that
comment in response to post
why would that be necessary when just normal country music is such a successful obvious psyop

ha wow i buy them (esp the all choco packs) probably most of the time that they land in my field of vision and had no idea this happened

part of the intensity of seeing this on tv was that there was no youtube and if you were into punk music you were hearing rumors about their shows being nuts, about how they had apparently been living on tour for 6 years and were effectively homeless, they all own a single set of clothes etc

inside llewyn davis except everyone just immediately likes him almost to an irrational degree and he just gets more popular and rich no matter what he does for the next 60 years of his life

Even in my company’s year end corporate townhall this month there were a lot of comments from our c execs where the idea of clients asininely asking about ai use in projects was just the butt of a joke.

we just experienced a presidential election in which the dem candidate did not mention even moderate healthcare reform let alone the sweeping changes that the entire country wants. i think everyone is realizing that reform is not going to happen at the ballot box.

if you’re mainly interested in what was compelling about him to begin with, probably just watch ‘don’t look back’

i think for the real dylan sickos it’s the fact that he’s a sponge/conduit for american pop music and culture and it’s interesting to look at his various eras as a warped mirror of what was happening at the time. And he’s also pretty sardonically funny once you dig in.

none of that matters

feels like their whole thing is a weird funded project by someone. whenever the profiles of them try to pin down what they do for work it’s like ‘they are self employed at doing business’

any chance of any of you making these playlists available on non-spotify streaming services?

all country radio is basically the musical equivalent of the billboards from They Live except the extremely thinly coded messages are like ‘work until death. eat applebees. drink miller. Take pride in mediocrity. Consume gasoline. Propagate.’

wish run dmc would cease and desist them for that obvious soundalike of tricky they used for the base of their song

i first moved to nyc during that era after having lived in philly and dc and i strongly remember feeling like it didn’t have a distinct homegrown scene like those other places did.

day 1 of meeting my freshman year dorm roommate, when he found out i was a music major he introduced me to vertical horizon like it was a band only he knew about

for a good chunk of october the only trump tv ads i was seeing in PA while watching hulu/prime/tubi were about harris wanting to draft girls.
comment in response to post
Agreed with this in theory, in practice i don’t think the trump voters you’re talking about have the kind of media diet where they even know that it’s happening.

shortened name of the buick grand national. Cool car from the 80’s that feels like it got sort of rediscovered and extensively talked about by millenial/gen X car nerds a few years ago

listened to Who Could Win A Rabbit by Animal Collective with my dad in the car one time and he laughed really hard. genuinely thought it was a joke song and was supposed to be funny.

a cool one not mentioned close to nyc is panther mountain in the catskills. current roads follow the creeks that were once the circular rim, so you can see it on google maps.

i will never not mainly associate it with jordan’s comeback.

There are 3 separate Trump voters in my everyday life and I happen to know that all 3 are doing it for outright racist reasons. No I don’t think any of them deserve compassion. They should be embarrassed to admit it out loud for the rest of their lives.

he’s asked that on the podcast and doesn’t give a definitive answer but pivots to claiming epstein showed him incriminating (physical media) photos of trump that he kept in his safe multiple times that he thinks were destroyed during the raid
comment in response to post
Literally the only thing that could possibly lose trump votes would be if wolff actually had the photo that he says that epstein showed him multiple times of trump with a cum stain on his pants surrounded by topless underage girls pointing and laughing at it.

guessing some solidly gen x folks think they’re actually elder millenials because why would it wreck my mind to learn that an adult on tv when i was 7 is now an even older adult

would’ve been a great bit if in every sequel Dewey is progressively more messed up and crippled from his injuries in the previous film. Missed opportunity.
