Yeah, if actually listening was something leaders did, the world would be a lot better place.

The guy running numerous companies remotely is now running the USA remotely?
Checks out.

I love how delightfully unbalanced and creativity-inducing your games are.

First they came for the communists...
The playbook of escalation is a well-worn and effective one.

My dad used to say: people do to others what they are already doing to themselves.
If they condemn others, they are self-condeming.
If they criticize, reject, demoralize others - they're internally rejecting & demoralizing themselves as well.
Thus, self-forgiveness leads to forgiving others.

I mean, if the outcome can't be measured as a monetary return on investment, then does it even exist?

This sounds amazing. Never heard of it, but will keep my eyes peeled now that I have.

But are you brat?
Really, I have no idea what it means, and I'm trying to find out.

2. Let me take a punt: maybe this is not politics, but alternate reality world building. aimed at creating the Trumpiverse, the running reality TV show/WWE special where he fights villains weekly and never truly loses.

It's an indictment of what is supposed to represent everything Trump hates.

Yeah, hey, there's a historic amount of chaos to deal with over there right now. I can't imagine how it must feel.

I'm aware of the distinction, but it was interesting that they self-identified as socialist.
I mean, I'll concede that they are more socialistic than, say, the UK. I'm more drawn to speaking about economies in terms of degrees of socialism rather than binaries.

Also- economic freedom rankings are pretty weird, as Matt Bruenig has pointed out. The assumptions that need to be made to be able to quantify freedom often disqualify the ranking from any kind of objective value.

Mostly as a strong welfare state.
We didn't really talk much about things like state ownership etc. It was a very cool discussion with a smart, open-minded person. To be fair, I was off balance hearing someone proclaim socialist values with such pride.

I had chat with the ex-CEO OF Copenhagen (chance meeting), and he was adamant that they're very much socialist over there.

And I tend to agree.
I think the argument is that people get caught up in that specific definitional debate that they lose sight of the actual core issue of class antagonism.

Lose-lose, but the one choice costs a bunch of stuff that isn't money. Like respect, sovereignty, intl standing, the facade of the rules-based order.
And it ties you to the failing empire rather than the rising power.

8. To counter the spiral requires massive political effort: dissent, protest, non-cooperation and the building of alternatives on a vast scale. The response by power will be extreme repressive violence. Only societies prepared to withstand it produce alternatives to tyranny.

9 yrs later, we understand that Trump is a superficial reality TV star who didn't start the fire. It was always burning since the world's been turning.
This is class warfare & propaganda between greed & the people they exploit.
There is no bandaid left. We need to address it once & for all.

Maybe the parking problem can be fixed with proper public transport. We don't need self-driving cars for that.
Bonus - then poor people get to take part in the economy too.
