Solar + storage is now $104 per MWh in Las Vegas or similar regions for nearly 100% clean firm power. There is no way new nuclear can compete with this. Even new gas plants will struggle and that is assuming access to cheap gas over the life-cycle of the plant, which is kind of a crazy gamble TBH.

Part of me thinks, if they manage regime change in Iran, that would be good. A bigger part of me thinks: that was a disastrous approach in Iraq and Afghanistan and didn't work at all. More likely is destruction, destabilization, death, more anger, terrorism, resentment, revenge.

Like Mondriaan in the 1940s architects get bored with rectangles but they are still afraid of round shapes, ornaments and natural forms. So they multiply their rectangles to create a feeling of abundance and playfulness again. A small step for an average person, a huge leap for dogmatic architects.

Kranten doen hun uiterste best om van elke leiderschapsverkiezing iets akeligs en dramatisch te maken. De spectaculairste voorbeelden uit de geschiedenis worden afgestoft en saaie leiderschapsverkiezingen worden genegeerd. Dat is slecht want daardoor gaan partijen open verkiezingen vermijden.

Henk van Os (1938 – 2025) Met authentiek enthousiasme is kunst nooit elitair, dat zag je bij hem, hij wist iedereen te bereiken. Ik heb nog een keer college van hem gekregen toen ik een paar maanden kunstgeschiedenis studeerde aan de UVA.

I don't know why I thought painting clouds would be easy but it is not. They follow very strict laws, even when they all have a lot of randomness. No cloud is ever wrong. They live naturally in their laws of light and wind and gravity. But when you paint clouds, you are almost always wrong.

People will always paint flowers, but when the art world says flowers are kitsch, and patience, nuance and details are not interesting, there isn't the support that brings art to a high level. Hierom heb ik mijn lidmaatschap van Groen Links gezegd. GL wethouder Zita Pels beloofde binnen de ring een verkoopstop van sociale woningen. Maar de verkoop van de mooiste woningen op de mooiste locaties gaat gewoon door en daarvoor komen kleine dure hokken in hoogbouw op afgelegen locaties terug.
